You Will Never Believe Where The Most Drug Infested State In The USA Is...
#1 Each dot represents a drug bust…
National Geographic studied police reports and media coverage of drug arrests to calculate the distribution of drug busts from 2009 2012 in the United States. These maps show exactly where the drug busts, and which type, were located. And, you are never going to guess which state has the highest drug use and sales!
Can you find you city or town on this map?

#2 As seen by the map, pot is widely used everywhere.
If you think weed should be legal, well, the green dots signify a pot charge a huge chunk of the map, but more prevalent in the South East.

#3 Do you live in a high meth or cocaine area?
The yellow dots represent the meth arrests, and then blue are for cocaine busts. As you can see, meth is more often used in the South West and South Central areas. Cocaine seems to be a drug of choice in the NY, NJ, and Washington DC areas.

#4 Heroin is on the rise everywhere..
The red dots represent heroin arrests and use. Though this map was generated based on 2012 arrests, the heroin epidemic has grown three fold since then, and is now the worst street drug available nationwide.

#5 Now let’s look at the state-wide leaders in drug arrests…
Guess which state uses the most weed? Surprisingly, it's North Dakota! Though in today's figures it is probably Colorado or Oregon, but it's legal there.

#6 The "Breaking Bad" award goes to...
Yep, the state cooking up the most meth is Arizona! They had the most meth busts and use in the entire country.

#7 Little old Delaware gets it's place on the map as well.
That's right, unassuming Delaware takes the needle for most heroin arrests. Who would have thought that? If you live there you probably already knew of the epidemic and rising arrests.

#8 Where does your state rank on the map of illegal drug users?
Here's a map of the percentage of illegal drug USERS in each state, but remember that marijuana is included in this study and is now considered low priority in the 'drug war' field. Green is LOW and RED is very HIGH (no pun intended)

#9 And the WINNER IS....
That's right! You never would have guessed it, right? Little old, unassuming VERMONT ranks highest in the entire US for drug use and arrests. The sunny green state gets the award for what National Geographic calls the biggest standout in âthe most drug infested country' worldwide!
Of course, with its very low population and size, it really only takes a few hundred arrests to make it look the highest in rankings. But still.. Vermont??
