Iran's "Zombie" Angelina Jolie lookalike has revealed her real face following her release from prison. Sahar Tabar, 21, has finally unmasked herself after fooling the world with her dramatic features for a number of years.
'Zombie' Angelina Jolie Lookalike Reveals Her Real Face After Being Released From Prison
There are some pretty impressive gems on social media these days. But perhaps one of the most out-there influencers was a ‘Zombie’ Angelina Jolie lookalike, who’s known for posting some eerily spooky Instagram pictures.
Well, it turns out that content creator Sahar Tabar is actually pretty normal looking in real life, despite previous claims that she underwent cosmetic surgery to achieve her corpse bride looking face.
The social media influencer was rumoured to have undergone at least 50 surgeries to achieve the ghoulish look that earned her thousands of followers. She sported a razor-sharp jawline, an oversized pout, icy blue contact lenses and washed-out skin, amping up the illusion that she had just been dug up from a grave.
But she has now finally given up the ruse and shown off her natural beauty in a TV interview after being released from prison.
Appearing in a TV interview with Rokna after being released from prison, the social media star confirmed that her skills are simply a trick of the eye instead of the result of extreme surgery.
The 21-year-old Sahar - real name Fatemeh Khishvand - was arrested in October 2019 for ‘corruption’ and ‘blasphemy’, and was released from prison after 14 months served, following public unrest at her 10-year sentence, as reported by activist Masih Alinejad.
Sahar spent her sentence in the desert lockup Qarchak, which is known as "the worst prison in Iran for women." The government-run media publication did not translate what the influencer revealed within the interview, but quoted her as saying: “What you saw on Instagram was the computer effects I used to create the image.”
Explaining she "wanted to be famous since I was a child," she believed that "cyberspace was an easy way."
"It was much easier than becoming an actor," Sahar said.
But the Iranian wants to dial back her online presence following her imprisonment, despite her initial success on Instagram.
She added: "I'm sure I will not even put Instagram on my phone anymore, let alone have a page."
Sahar also claimed she didn't intentionally base her zombie character on the Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie or the Corpse Bride.
She also expressed her regret over her spooky posts following her arrest three years ago.
The Instagrammer said: "My mother was telling me to stop, but I didn't listen.
"Sometimes the words of a stranger or a friend can be more important than those of a parent."
Although Sahar has not publicly discussed her time in prison, human rights groups claimed it is riddled with disease, has poor sanitation, and is rife with torture, murder and rape. Sahar ended up on a ventilator after contracting coronavirus while in jail, seeing her beg for freedom.
Her Instagram account, which she said had 486,000 followers, has since been taken down. The television channel said she was the only child of a divorced couple who had been living with her mother, and that she 'could have been in university by now' if not for her 'strange' online persona and fame.
Instagram is the only major social media service accessible in Iran unlike Facebook and Twitter and the Telegram messenger service are officially banned. It has since been blocked in certain areas of the country since the 2022 protests.
