10 Children's Shows From The 90s That You Probably Forgot Existed
The World of David the Gnome
Originally, this show was produced in Spanish before being picked up by Nickelodeon. It was the story of David, a 399-year-old doctor and his wife Lisa. It followed their adventures across the globe healing injured animals and fellow gnomes. He also helped fight against villainous trolls.
Mighty Max
This show was about a boy who got a red baseball hat one day. Attached to the hat was a prophecy stating that he had to battle against the forces of darkness. The boy travels from dimension to dimension alongside his companions, Virgile and Norman.
Street Sharks
This show spawned from the popularity of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Street Sharks is the story of four teens who get turned into mutant sharks. Each one is different and has their own abilities that aides them in protecting the world from evil. They even had a tech genius named Blades to help them out.
Biker Mice From Mars
This is another show that spawned from the success of TMNT. These Biker Mice From Mars were pretty bad ass. They were forced to leave Mars as refugees because of the evil Plutarkians. They show up on Earth and fight the forces of evil in Chicago while waiting for the Plutarkians to arrive.
VR Troopers
VR Troopers spawned because of the success of The Power Rangers. The shows were incredibly similar. The only difference is they did battle in virtual reality instead of real life like The Power Rangers.
Disney's Adventure of the Gummi Bears
This show was pretty ridiculous, but it kept the kids entertained. The Gummies were an ancient race, who flee across the ocean but leave a small colony behind to prepare for their return. The Gummies end up forgetting everything about who they are and what their purpose is until a human helps unlock an ancient boot that gives them back their memories and magic.
The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police
To put it simply, this is a cartoon bunny and dog that fight crime while making a bunch of funny pop-culture references. It used to be a comic book and video game before it was made into a television show.
Dog City
This show was a little on the risque side. It was filled with cliches and insane plots. There was even commentary between the lead character, Ace, and the animator responsible for drawing him into existence as he tries to make deadlines. It was an entertaining mix of "cartoon" and "cinema noir."
The Pirates of Dark Water
This show was canceled before the story even had a chance to finish. The Pirates of Dark Water was about a group of aliens who were trying to rid their planet of the "dark water". They go on a mission to collect missing treasures that will rid the planet of the dark water.
Eureeka's Castle
This puppet show was created by R.L. Stine, the guy who brought us the Goosebumps books. The story takes place in a castle music box that is owned by a giant. The show was so popular at the time that Pizza Hut even had their own line of toys, based on this show, that they gave out with their meals.
