#1

Have you ever watched a superhero cartoon or movie and dreamed that perhaps one day you too could be a superhero, with special powers? Who wouldn't want to have incredible strength, x-ray vision, or the ability to fly? Well, as it turns out, you do have special powers of your own. Maybe you can't fly, but everyone has the ability within themselves to do and become superhuman if they try.

#2 Super Strength

Sure you lift, work out daily, and are strong, but did you know that the scrawny kid next door can probably lift as much as you can if he has to? It turns out our bones, tendons, and muscles can lift and hold up a great deal of weight for very short durations under the right set of circumstances. Throw in a chemical mix released by the body and it explains why a little man can lift a 3,000-pound car off of a child, or why two mothers can lift a car off to save a baby.

#3 Lie Detection

The best lie detectors available are those used by professionals in law enforcement and your parents. You can tell when someone is lying to you without really knowing it consciously. When it comes to smiling, your brain can tell automatically when someone is flashing a genuine smile or a false smile. I addition to assessing the situation, your brain analyzes a bunch of facial clues of the person smiling. Befoe you actually know the truth, your brain has already decided if the person is genuine or fake.

#4 Healing Power

When you were in the womb you most likely caused your mother a bit of discomfort with all of your turning and kicking. Don't feel too bad, however, after all, you possessed a special power that enabled your mom to heal if she needed it. Fetuses are packed with ever-potent stem cells. If the mother's body senses some type of organ damage, the baby can send out a wave of stem cells to heal and repair any damage.

#5 Super Vision

Regardless of whether you have 20/20 vision or not, you do have the ability to look back in time. Look up at the night sky and technically you are looking back in time. Since the distances of space are so vast, it takes a lot of time for light to travel anywhere. For example, the closest star is still 4 light years away from the earth, even though the sun is our largest and brightest. That means that if you can locate Alpha Centauri in the dark night sky, the light you are seeing from it was actually produced in 2012, and is only now reaching our vision.

#6 Super Smell

Compared to animals like dogs, humans have a pretty limited range when it comes to smell. But still, our noses and brains are able to step it up a notch. For instance, our noses can pick up pheromones from other people, a powerful factor when it comes to picking a partner. Women's noses can detect when another female is ovulating and they can also detect the scent of a man's sweat and whether or not he has an STD. It's quite amazing and doesn't make for a superpower that stinks as bad as you thought.

#7 Super Endurance

Why can some people seemingly run forever or handle high endurance activities like the Tour De France with little effort? Training and conditioning plays a big role, but there are times that a person just shouldn't be able to continue, but the do. The term often applied is 'runners high' and it is related to the release of endorphins that dull or even eliminate any sensation of pain in the body. Anyone can experience this power and researchers say that working with a partner or even listening to music can help spike endorphin levels to give you that superhuman boost.

#8 Clairsentience

You've likely heard of the 'sixth sense' which is that ability to feel or even see beyond what our normal senses provide. A lot of people laugh off this ability and often call if fakery, but there are many people who can actually harness this ability. Clairsentience is the ability to feel good and bad emotions of the past, present, or future. Have you ever gotten a really bad feeling for no apparent reason when you've walked into a house? Did you just have that nagging feeling that you've met this person before, another place or time? These are clear examples of clairsentience.

#9 Time Control

Soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and even athletes often recount moments where they became extremely focused as the world around them seemed to move in slow motion. This can happen to anyone. While it appears that everything has slowed down to a snails pace, what researchers say is actually happening is that your brain has kicked into an instinctive mode. The brain becomes more focused, and thinking becomes faster, making everything else seemed blurred or out of reach. An example would be when an observer sees an accident in real time and the victim sees it in slow motion.

#10 Hypnotism

Did you know that you have within yourself to create an army of mindless followers? Well, everyone possesses the ability to hypnotize others. Through a variety of tried and tested techniques, you can get into a person's head and make them act or do certain things. It's not easy though. The other person has to be willing to let you put them in a hypnotic state. But once they do, a set of carefully crafted sentences can help you influence that person.

#11 Molecular Hearing

We don't always associate hearing with temperature. However, it turns out that we have an ability to hear temperature and molecular activity. The best evidence of this is when we pour water. When researchers poured a glass of cold water versus a glass of hot water, they discovered that people could tell the difference in the waters temperature just by hearing it poured. There is actually an audible difference in the sounds. Cold water has less energy and the sounds are more viscous when poured. Because of this discovery, scientists have determined that humans are capable of hearing things never believed possible, like hot and cold, soft or hard, and dry or wet.
