#1 Calicos are the official “State cat of Maryland”
The Calico cats were made the official state cats of Maryland on October 1, 2001. They were given the title due to their color similarities to the Baltimore oriole, Maryland's state bird, and Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly, Maryland's state insect.
#2 They migrated from Egypt straight to your living room!
Your Calico kitty queen was once upon a time actually worshiped! Centuries ago, Ancient Egyptians used to worship cats for their beauty.
According to many history books, the orange mutant gene found in calicoes can be traced to the port cities along the Mediterranean in France, Spain and Italy, originating from the Egypt.
All hail Egyptian queen.

#5 You can’t breed Calicos!
"Calico cats are almost always female because the X chromosome determines the color of the cat, and female catsmuch like all female mammalshave two X chromosomes, whereas male mammals, including common male cats, have one X and one Y chromosome. Since the Y chromosome does not have any color genes, there is no chance he could have both orange and non-orange together. One main exception to this is when, in rare cases, a male has XXY chromosomes." Wikipedia.
Did you get the process? Me neither.
#6 Almost all male Calico cats are born sterile
Only about 1 in every 10,000 male calico cats is fertile.
#7 The beckoning cat figurines are all based on Calico
In the 1870's Japan, Calico cats were considered as a symbol of good fortune. To this day, Calicos are considered as a good omen and that's why their waving-arm figurines are kept at the entrances and businesses all over the world.
Idiots! I was trying to scratch their legs, not bless them!
#8 Calico is not a breed, but is a colour pattern!
