These 10 real true ghost tales will make you sleep with the light on for the foreseeable future
#1 Beings In My Room
It all started when I was a little kid.
My mum and dad had a massive 3 story house in the country and me and my twin sister had the whole top floor attic conversion to ourself.
We had 2 double beds, a sofa, a tv and a wide area to play with our barbies and other toys. My parents house was surrounded by trees and forests. I think the nearest neighbours were around 15 minutes away. and they had a huge farm that we also loved to play in.
I think it all started when I was around 7-8. This is when I developed a habit of covering my whole body, head included under the covers each night (something that I still do).
Me and Cara had velux windows in our attic and I was laying in bed one night when a bright light shone through them. I looked over at cara and she was asleep. It was then that I remember feeling ‘something' in the room. It looked like a tiny child who was standing by our dresser. The child would come forward and I'd just see these big eyes looking at me.
I being so young at the time didn't realise what was going on and I thought that everyone saw them. I tried to talk to my parents about it but they said I was dreaming or that I imagined it. Each time cara would be ‘Frozen' in her bed and never moved.
So flash forward until now I'm 24 and living with my boyfriend in a block of flats. I didn't tell him about anything I've experienced. I didn't see those beings for a few years and I thought they were gone until the other night.
I woke up in our bed and and I felt a familiar presence in the room. I saw a few of the child like beings standing near the doorway. I saw one of the beings come towards the bed and yet again I was staring into those black eyes. It didn't move its mouth but something came in my head telling me not to be scared. Then I awake up back in my bed.
I talked it over with my boyfriend and he thinks it's very weird. He believes me and has now taken to downloading this app on his phone that records while you're asleep and tells you if there's any movement.
I'm terrified. I still sleep with my head under the covers and I thought moving would stop these night visits. I just want them to stop. I've now taken to sleeping or trying to nap during the day so I can be awake at night.
#2 Come With Me
My Grandma always used to say "if there's no proof that something exist, then it's your imagination and you don't have to worry about". I still don't believe in ghosts, but what happened to me when I was 4-5 years old makes me think about what my Grandma always said over and over again.
It began when I was 4 back in 2002. I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I always saw something on my closet, there is some space between my closet and the room ceiling, the thing looked like a huge light with the silhouette of a human. In the beginning I just looked at it sometimes but ignored it most of the time. After a few months I started to throw stuff on my closet to see if the light is moving or throws it back but nothing happened so I started to talk with it. It whispered and I never really could understand it.
After a week my mother started to ask me why I'm talking with the closet and I always said "I'm not talking with the closet. I talk with the Angel on it". She never really paid more attention to it, I guess she figured it would be a imaginary friend.
It didn't change anything until 1 year later, when I was 5, I came home from a friends house that lived like 8min away and ran upstairs to my room. I stopped at the door frame and just stared in my room. The thing wasn't on my closet anymore, no it was in the middle of my room. And now it spoke clearly and loud to me. It said "Come with me. Come with me." The angel repeated it all the time until it was right in front of my wide open window. Now it said "Nothing will happen to you. You will come back soon." Now it was outside my house but still in front of the window. It said again "Come with me". So I stood on the windowsill.. (I have to say at this point that if I would have jumped, I would be most likely dead, because right under my window is a stair out of stone that leads to the basement, I would have fell at least 6 meters down) .. and was ready to jump into the open arms of the angel, in this moment my mother pulled me away from the window into my room. She had tears in her eyes and pressed me against her.
I explained her what happened and she gave me a pillow and said "If you see it again or if it talks to you again then hug this pillow and close your eyes and wait until it's gone." I did what she said and after a few months it was gone. I have never seen it since then. And sometimes I even wish it would come back, just one more time. I really want to know if it would have took me with him or if it would just let me fall down. I want to know if it wanted me to die, if it made me think I'm save to lead me into my death. But one thing is for sure: I will never forget about this thing that I called "Angel".
#3 I’m Sorry
Since I was six (when my Grandpa died) I've been seeing a figure in my closet. It wasn't shadow-like, it was more of an angel it wasn't glowing but it was white. It stood at the foot of my closet and if I rubbed my eyes my closet door would be shut. I always left the door open and I guessed the figure must have shut it.
I thought it was my Grandpa so I turned on my light the next night and waited. I was sitting there for almost 20 minutes, and right before I decided to try to go to sleep my shadow started moving I looked at the wall and rubbed my eyes, my shadow was moving. I couldn't hear anything but it was writing something with his hands. I thought about it and for some reason I could tell it was saying "I'm sorry" I thought it was a dream or I was imagining things, as none of my siblings believed me. I've always heard I'm sorry, every time I go to sleep.
Then I had a dream about two years later. It was me, in a hospital at night I saw my Grandpa sitting in one of the chairs crying and explaining to the nurse saying, "I killed him, it's my fault". The nurse was comforting him, I walked up to try and talk but it was like I wasn't there as neither of them could hear me. My grandpa got up and walked into one of the rooms. I heard him whispering "I'm sorry" almost as if he was whispering in my ear. So I followed him into the room, and right before I walked in I woke up.
#4 The Angry Man Across the Street
I live in a neighborhood in West Houston where the houses are tight and streets have many cars parked. I have a couple of roommates and between having to share the driveway and front of our house with them and my wife, I generally have to park on a perpendicular street a few houses down.
One day because I had quite a few groceries, I just parked in front of a house that is across the street and diagonal to the right when facing it from my front door. We must keep in mind that it is perfectly legal to park there as long as the driveway is not blocked. That homeowner does not own any part of the street (though we may keep some courtesies in mind).
Later, I left for my afternoon hospital shift and as I got in my car, the owner of the house was coming to put a note on my car. As he saw me inside, he spouted off about me blocking his mailbox (which I wasn't, I was a few feet away and was nonetheless parked legally), parking in front of his house and asked me where I lived. He was angry and, again, it was a very scary looking face.
I retorted, "I'm not telling you where I live and you don't own the street!"
But the Caucasian man's face, it was a very mean-looking face. Scary. Seemingly perpetually angry eyes and slanted eyebrows with a pointy chin. His appearance was somewhere in his late 50s to early 60s.
I rolled up my window and drove off. This was around May 2014. I never parked in front of his house again and never had any run ins after that.
Then in one mid-October night as I was walking to my house after work from around the corner, there were many ambulances and firetrucks. I didn't know whose house they were responding to so I went in my house and didn't think about it anymore.
Not long after, I noticed activity at the angry man's house on some days. His garage was being emptied of junk over a period of some weekends (three years living in my neighborhood, I've never seen his garage door open). People who apparently were relatives were taking some things out of the house. His mini-van was even parked back in, and he never did that, and consequently was never driven over a two week period from that spot. Except for one mass clean-up, trash was never put out. And then one day, his mini-van was gone.
Presumably the angry man had passed away.
Recent nights, I thought of parking in front of the angry man's house again. One night after work, I parked briefly there but looked at the window (where the light is left on) and felt a little spooked. So I drove to my usual spot on the street around the corner and parked. I always feel comfortable parking there.
But a street project just started and my usual spot was blocked off two days ago. So two nights ago, I parked in front of the angry man's house. As I was gathering my things, I hearda KNOCK KNOCK, a real KNOCK KNOCK on one of the rear side windows of my SUV. No one was there. No, it wasn't a nut or something that fell on my vehicle from a tree branch above. It was a loud KNOCK KNOCK, like a person would do. I was out of my car and there was no one in sight in or around or down the neighborhood street. And why would there be, really? KNOCK KNOCK for what?
Last night I parked again in front of the angry man's house but there was no KNOCK KNOCK. BUTearlier in the day, my wife and the female roommate took one of the dogs to the veterinarian. When they returned home, they found the paper towel holder in the kitchen TORN OFF from the cupboard. It was in place when they left. No signs of any break in. I told my wife about the KNOCK KNOCK on my car.
Though we do not consider our house to be active or haunted, it has had some odd varied occurrences in the past. But nothing consistently noteworthy. There are very long stretches where the house is normal and quiet though it feels it has the potential for odd things. But my parking in front of the angry man's house. I wonder if something was disturbed or has begun? He has no right to be angry at me, even in death. I am not disturbing his property in any way.
#5 The Devil’s Hearse
This spooky tale of warning came from a fellow I worked with in the press shop of a large auto manufacturer in South Australia for a few months many years ago. He was a very straight forward, upfront and honest bloke blue collar, quit school too soon, somewhat amoral but true blue and definitely not one to talk crap or make stuff up.
Anyway I got to know him over time and I found he was a very interesting and intelligent fellow. One day the subject of supernatural phenomena came up and he started relaying to me a couple of experiences he had had involving actual apparitions. It was obvious to me that he was one of those people who can see spiritual entities at times. I have known a few people with what I would tentatively call this "third eye" ability and need absolutely no further evidence or testimony to convince me this phenomena is real. Exactly what it is of course is another matter.
Sorry back to the story.
He started telling me how one summer night a few years prior to then, him and some friends (most in their late teens/early twenties at the time) were out cruising in their hotted up cars and found themselves in the very dark car park of Morialta Falls, a popular place to make out and get up to mischief at night Morialta Falls is like a shady natural cleft in the Adelaide Hills featuring steep gullies and a spectacular waterfall, walking tracks and large weathered rocks, particularly at the base of the waterfall.
They all noticed when entering the carpark that another car was parked a small ways off but thought nothing of it. Like I said, it was a popular place to "park". It was not apparent if anyone was in the car as no one could be seen and there were no lights or music or motion emanating from it at all. Just the cool dark silence of the night.
They began getting out of their cars, two or three cars from memory, drinking "sodas" and talking and laughing and all that jazz when all of a sudden everyone went silent. A distinct sense of foreboding fell upon everyone simultaneously, followed by a sudden drop in temperature and the appearance from nowhere of a mysterious mist seeming to flow out of the darkness. They were frozen in place with terror as a large dark form silently emerged from the mist an early 1900's black, horse-drawn hearse except with no horses. It glided silently through their midst while they stared in disbelief.
It was then a scream or yell from someone in the group shattered the spell they were under and like a flash everyone was scrambling back into their cars, doors slamming, engines starting, radios blaring back into life, pale, shaken and invariably disturbed.
But that, in my opinion was not the truly scary part of the story.
It was late the next day, the experience fading from mind when the guy who told me this story was watching the news. There on the screen was a picture showing the car they had seen the previous night much more distinguishable and ordinary in the early bleak morning light but this time surrounded by crime scene tape. Apparently the owner of the car was an 18 year old guy who had just broken up with his girlfriend and had driven there the night before in a state of deep emotional and psychological trauma. Unable to come to terms with his loss he had decided to take his life by throwing himself from the highest part of the waterfall hundreds of feet down onto the hard rocks below.
A sad and preventable, macabre, and gory tragedy.
I will never forget this story as long as I live. To me it suggests that death is not the end and suicide is a dangerous way to go at best. For after the physical death there may be a second death where the devil's hearse collects you before any human constructed hearse can
#6 The Haunted Classroom
Ever since I started working in an international school here in my country, I've been seeing things that I should not see. I am really afraid of the dark and being alone, so being able to see those things creep me out, but after a few times, it just became a usual occurrence in my life.
This story happened in mid-February 2014. In my school, we usually have 2-5 students per class. My classroom that day was quite spacious for us and on my left were the door and narrow window. That time, I only had two naughty students. They keep on annoying each other, so while I'm writing on the whiteboard, I am staring at their reflections, too. At first, I was staring straightly at them, and then suddenly, something caught my eye. Outside the window, a boy around 6-8 years old passed. I only saw his head, but wasn't able to see his facial features properly. I stared at him because I thought that he is the son of one of my co-faculty. Suddenly, he disappeared before reaching the door. I immediately excused myself from the class and went out to check if I'm just imagining that the boy disappeared. I looked around the corridor, but there's no one is sight. Then, it hit me that there's only one class in that area except mine. I went to the other classroom to ask if they saw a boy running around and check if there's someone around that height. When I arrived there, they said that no one's has come since the bell rang. And that, all the people in their class are the tallest guys in our school. I shrugged it off and went back to my class.
After that, I went to my second class. My second classroom is located in the 3rd floor of the main building which is used as the girls' dormitory. It is the only room there that is used as a classroom, so we're alone in the whole floor. Whoever comes to the 3rd floor can feel a very heavy and suffocating feeling. They don't turn on the lights in that area and there are minimal windows which makes it scarier. There is a dorm room there that usually attracts my attention. I don't know why, but every time I pass there, I feel like someone is sitting on the bed and asking for my attention.
Anyway, my classroom is the complete opposite of the corridor. My classroom is very spacious and bright due to the number of windows there. I have 6 students there. Upon entering the classroom, I decided to forget what had happened in my other class. After finishing my lesson, we had a very fun conversation. Suddenly, they became quiet and that's when I heard a small child singing. It sounds like a girl. I asked my students if they heard it, but everyone said they did not. Again, curiosity got the best of me, so I went out to check, but all I saw was the darkness of the hallway. I also checked outside the windows, but there's really no one.
After that day, I promised to myself that I will try my best not to go to that classroom again. Even up to this time, I still see kids running around in other classrooms or I find myself staring to a certain spot even if there's nothing in it.
#7 The Old Church and The Strange Case of Demonic Possession
Hi, my names Morgan and until now I have been quite scared to tell this story, even writing it I had shivers. But I think its interesting for people to know and I would like to see what some people have to say about it.
This experience happened a few years ago I am now 18. This all happened on the 10th of March, the next day was my 16th birthday (11th). I live in London and before this I liked to think ghosts where out there but never seen or felt anything to tell me they were. A little background on me, I used to be quite ‘emo' now I'm just casual I wouldn't say I really have a style. I've never really been depressed in my life luckily for me I've always been a very happy person.
I had a girlfriend who lived quite far from me , as I lived in London she lived in Essex. It wasn't too far of a train journey, it only took me around an hour to get up there. Anyway. I went to see my girlfriend in Harlow. I got there, everything seemed normal. We had arranged to go to a gathering later that day with her friends. I didn't really like most of her friends but there was a few I got on really well with. Me and Jodie (my girlfriend) chilled for most of the day watching scary movies etc. Her and her friends where all very spiritual and took it quite seriously, me on the other hand liked to think about them things and how they could be real but never believed any of it.
Later around 6 me and Jodie had left to go to the gathering. We had met up with a friend, Josh. He was one of the very few I really liked out of her friendship group. We got along very well. We got to the gathering, they all welcomed us and we chilled, talked and had a good time. It got to about 10 o'clock and a big portion of the group were very drunk. Me, Jodie and Josh were sober. We were all around the age of 15 or younger so it didn't really mean much being drunk. We got bored and decided to go on an all-nighter.
See the thing about Harlow is its beautiful. Forests everywhere, a lot of nice walks, views and the weather wasn't ridiculous. So around 10 of us ran around forests, playing in parks, smoking. You know all the usual things teenagers do. The parks are weird in Harlow, you had to walk down a forest path to get to this massive drained out swimming pool. I thought it was really cool. We don't get stuff like that in London.
Anyway we where sitting there it must have been at least 11:30 by now. Very dark. I asked Jodie where Josh was as I couldn't find him. She replied ‘text him', So I did. It seemed he was on the other side of the pool but it was so dark you couldn't see anything. I was a bit confused, why would he be away from the group, so as a friend I quizzed him. I soon found out that he had dumped by his girlfriend a few months ago, but was still in love with her. He seemed a bit stupid to dump someone you love but I didn't question it. I just offered help, he didn't want any. A little bit of background on Josh. He is a very spiritual person, his mum is a physic, I didn't know this as of yet though.
10 minutes later he just walked off in a strop again, I was the only one who noticed as I was keeping an eye on him. Me and Jodie were staying at Josh's so we followed and so did everyone else. I just thought he needed time to calm down. We followed for a long time. See the one thing I hated about Harlow is there are no buses. You have to walk everywhere! We came to a fork in the road, I hadn't been to Harlow a lot but I know my way around a bit. There was one road which was direct to Josh's house, and another road which was a lot longer. He took the longer road.
I immediately text him and asked what he is doing his reply exactly was ‘diversion'. Again I thought maybe he just needs to clear his head, I mean I was having fun with my girlfriend so I wasn't all that bothered. Then I saw this church in the distance. Now Jodie and Josh had told me about this church and about some things that had happened. To be fair I thought it was cool. As again I did not believe in ghosts at this point so there was no reason for me to be scared. It was a weird layout, there was a underpass with a huge field and over a path was the church surrounded by a graveyard.
As we walked towards it I got a text saying ‘graveyard time'. I didn't believe in ghosts so I was more then up for it. But I don't know how to explain at all. As soon as I stepped across the path I just had this feeling, its too hard to explain, this feeling that something was going to go wrong and to NOT go into that graveyard. By this time Josh had already entered. I damn right refused to go in. I said I'd wait on the field while I have a cigarette, ‘go and get Josh' I told my friends.
I sat there on the field just looking at this magnificent church. I was just staring at the doors when all of a sudden this black mist just crept from the church door. That describes it perfectly, it crept slowly. Now this was all a bit weird but I wouldn't say I was frightened or that I believed in ghosts but I had to walk away. When I got to the underpass my girlfriend text me asking where I was. I replied and walked straight back up and saw them all at the front of the church.
As I got to them I realised Josh wasn't with them. I enquired where he was and they said ‘inside the graveyard' but that they don't want me staying outside by myself. To be fair after what I just saw I didn't either. So I gripped my girlfriends hand so hard. As I said before I didn't believe in ghosts, yet so I cant tell you why I was so scared. It was just the atmosphere or something telling me not to go.
As I walked into the graveyard I was looking around for Josh. My girlfriend pointed him out at the back, gazing at a gravestone. Now this was stupid. ‘JOSH' I called. No answer. I just wanted to get out of there so again ‘JOSH WE NEED TO GO' all of a sudden he snapped/jolted, and walked back. At this point I didn't know what to think. I was thinking maybe they are all just being assholes and because I'm the "new guy" they are freaking me out. As Josh got back I asked what the hell was he doing, he explained he felt something breathing down his neck. My first thought was why were you still standing there? I would have been running for dear life. Everything was getting a bit tense. The atmosphere was getting very heavy. So I was like ‘can we go outside to chat, I don't like it in here' so we did.
We got outside and for some reason Josh didn't want to leave the church and go home. He told us ‘something wants him to stay' at this point I was like you know what, your absolutely crazy, so I dragged one of Jodie's friends down to the underpass to escape all that stuff. I was feeling a lot better, chatting smoking, then mid conversation he lies down and starts fitting. At this point I was scared, not because ghosts just because I couldn't help him. All of a sudden he sits back up and just acts like nothing happened. I just said to him ‘are you okay?'. He couldn't remember a thing. So from this point I knew I couldn't stay alone with him. We walked back up to the field and in the distance you could see two groups of people. This confused me.
I first went to see my girlfriend as any good boyfriend would do. She was looking over Josh who was lying there mumbling non-existent words. I told her I was going to see why Conor another one of her friends who I REALLY disliked. He was standing 10 metres away just crying. Now things started to get heated. Once again I got that feeling. I have never had this before. It was all overwhelming for me, I couldn't tell if it was real or they where playing tricks on me. I just hoped for the best and went with it. I asked him why he was crying he kept saying he didn't know, he was staring at the door of the church. To be fair I just wanted to tell him to man up. Instead I tried to reason. He then told me he is seeing a huge 7 foot figure wearing a trench coat standing at the foot of the door. I looked at the door and saw nothing. But after a few minutes of trying to sort him out I turned around saw a huge figure in the doorway. Then just as suddenly it was gone. This was my breaking point. I grabbed him, as soon as I moved him he stopped crying, but I didn't have time to think about this. I ran up to Josh, picked him up and we all moved to the underpass.
At this point I was just happy we were away from that damn church. Now we just had to get back to Josh's. Unfortunately we had to walk through windy dark forest paths to get there. Once again a feeling I had never felt before. It felt like it wasn't just us. I don't know how I could explain this but it wasn't just us. My friend Conor was rubbing his hands and staring off into nothing. At this point everyone was silent. Trying to piece together what the hell just happened, my head was personally all over the place. After a while I had to ask him ‘why are you rubbing your hands?' He said they were dirty. After some inspection we saw his hands where fine. This weirded me out. I told Josh I don't want him coming inside. Whatever just happened was not fun and I do not wanna be around him if he is acting weird. So we left him outside on a bench just outside Josh's house. We were greeted by his mum it was around 2AM in the morning I was quite surprised. As things calmed down I realised it was my birthday, I was 16!! This brightened the mood a bit.
Later me, Jodie and Josh where in his room, playing halo when his mum text him goodnight. Him and his mum were very close so he went to say good night in person. After a minute he came running back. ‘I think my mums possessed!'. Now this was where it got real. Now I knew they weren't playing with me. The mum didn't even know about what happened before so how could she be in on it.
My heart sunk. How could this be happening again. The three of us ran out onto the landing of the stairs, we could hear things being dragged and things smashing inside her room. All of us standing there not knowing what to do. All of a sudden BANG the door flew open and she came running out screaming ‘GET THE ENERGY AWAY FROM ME!' Immediately I noticed her eyes. Her eyes where all white with a black pupil. There is no other word to describe what I was feeling but PURE TERROR, now I'm not really scared of a lot of things but this was out of this world scary for me. I ran into the room with Jodie. I was just in shock. How, just how could this happen again?
He didn't live in a big house so you could hear everything. Josh's mother was screaming in a demonic voice. Like death metal music vocalists. I didn't know that sounds like that could come out such a sweet little lady, you could hear her running her fingernails on the floor, it sounded like total hell in there. We all knew we couldn't do nothing. Josh knew for his mum he had to go downstairs.
We all agreed on it. Before he left I ripped his towel rack off the wall and stated to him ‘if she comes up here she is getting knocked out' he went downstairs. We could hear him trying to talk to her, asking what was wrong. No replies just talking in tongue or a language I didn't understand. This scared me at this point my legs where un-controllably shaking and I was holding my girlfriends hand for dear life. Josh come back upstairs and told us that she wasn't replying she was in the kitchen with salt smashed next to her on the floor on her knees's everywhere and scratching the floor with her fingernails and mumbling unrecognisable words. We didn't know what to do. I had only believed in ghosts for about half an hour now I was new to this. We all sat upstairs when we realised we left Conor outside. Josh went to open the door and call him in. Conor ran upstairs to us while Josh stayed downstairs trying to talk to his mum.
Me and Jodie explained what was happening to Conor. He said he thought we were watching a scary movie (a scary movie after the night we just had no thanks). We where all listening in to what was being said downstairs. Josh was questioning his mum. She was still screaming and talking in a demonic voice, every time she talked shivers ran down my spine. I mean I even tried pinching myself, this couldn't be real I kept thinking. Its like something out the movie. IT must be a dream, things like this don't happen in real life, especially like this. How wrong I was.
Josh was downstairs questioning his mum asking her questions like ‘who are you?' no replies, she was in her own world. Then all of a sudden Josh asks ‘are you evil' there was a pause and she said in a demonic voice "no, you are". Now it might not seem it but this for me was the scariest bit. I didn't understand much about ghosts and the paranormal I just did not want her to say he was the evil one.
She said "you" (Josh) and then a THUD as she dropped her head to the floor and started screaming "pray for forgiveness" over and over again. Every time it made my bones shiver. As she was still screaming Josh ran up stairs to us and said we have to pray, in my head I was like ‘brilliant idea, what do we pray for' then BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG she was running up the stairs. I clutched my pole with dear life but as she stood at the foot of our door I dropped it. It was just a human, it didn't scare me anymore, it was just his mum. She run in, grabbed Josh's hair and slammed his face into a book. As I looked closer it seemed to be a bible. Now as this was a long time ago I cannot remember exactly what she said but she implied for Josh to read whatever was on the page. Then she dropped back and tried to strangle herself with the pole I had dropped. I had to grab it and restrain her with the help of Jodie and Conor. She kept screaming "I'm going to kill Elliot, I'm going to kill Elliot" none of us knew what this meant. Josh started reading from the bible, everytime he read it she got a bit better. She started to come back into herself everytime. Until she was fine. Josh asked her if it was safe to go downstairs and get her water she said it was.
He got her some water and we talked about what happened. She said she had been woken up with a massive rush of adrenaline and as soon as Josh walked in her room she knew it wasn't her son. She said something was in Josh. She ran downstairs and tried to do some kind of ritual with the salt, she said she normally does rituals before she sleeps so she is protected but this particular night she didn't think to. After this she doesn't remember anything. She doesn't know who Elliot is or even remember saying it.
Me and his family are now amazingly close even though I hardly see them. What a way to spend my 16th birthday, that will stay with me forever.
#8 The Old Soldier and Me
So, recently (within the year) I've had four very related and very interesting ghostly experiences. I don't know if it's this one ghost just attracted to me or what, but whenever I attempt to camp out with a friend or even alone to catch him again, he never shows up. It's always when I'm not expecting him, as if he doesn't want to be seen by anyone but me.
First, a quick description of him. I've seen his full body twice, his head once, and his voice once. He's a tall man, dressed in a WWII Wehrmacht Military Uniform.
So the first time was definitely the shortest. I was home alone in my flat, reading Lord of the Rings when I heard footsteps coming from upstairs. I thought it may have been my flatmate Aleks, because sometimes he comes in the back way. So I called out "Hey, Aleks, I thought you were going to be out all night." I got no response, then got a bit more curious. So I stood up, walked up the stairs, and promptly saw an unfamiliar man standing in my hallway. I was about to yell at him (you know, like "what the *beep* are you doing in my house?") when I realized I could sort of see through him. He just turned to look at me then and promptly disappeared. Of course I was spooked, but I didn't want to tell anyone because I didn't want to be seen as crazy.
The second time was about a month later when I was sculpting my hair (I have a Mohawk, as stupid as it sounds) in the bathroom, and the mirror was rather foggy because I had just gotten out of the shower. I had looked away to squirt more gel into my hands, and when I looked back up there were distinct hands resting on the mirror. Needless to say, that spooked me pretty bad and I dropped the can of gel. Then his face kind of appeared, and it was the same guy. He just looked at me for a few moments, opened his mouth as if to speak, then took his hands away and disappeared from the mirror again.
Now I was pretty sure something ghostly was happening here. So I talked to my other friend who is equally as interested in supernatural things as I am (I've always believed ghosts existed, just haven't seen any until now). She said he was probably an imprint haunting or a sentient haunting, since he hadn't spoken or directly interacted with any objects it was a bit difficult to tell the difference.
The third time was two months ago. I was in my room, playing Minecraft and getting a little bit tired. I was planning on going to bed soon. I had my radio on, playing the local rock/metal station. Then there was a tone like a ‘broadcast interruption' or ‘weather alert' tone, and it went to static. I paused my game and reached over to jiggle the knob (it's an old clock radio), and see if I could pick up the connection again. I thought I was going to because I heard a voice, so I toned in on that. But it was definitely not my radio station. It was a male voice, whom said "Sie kommen, seien Sie vorsichtig," and then paused. I was like ‘the heck,' because I speak marginal German and that translates basically to "You come, be careful." Then the same voice said "Achten Sie auf-" and was cut off by the music coming back again. That means "Pay attention to-". It took me a little to put three and three together, but I finally figured out that that voice belonged to the same man whom had shown up twice near me.
Now, earlier, my friend said she thought he was probably attached to the house. But that got disproven just three weeks ago.
I was out and about, and ended up at the library. I was going to get some books for my term paper on psychology (yes, I'm a punk studying psychology. Ironic, ain't it?) and ended up in a quiet corner of the nonfiction section no one really goes in. I was just pulling books off the shelf when I distinctly felt someone's hand graze the back of my neck, and I kind of jumped and turned around, almost dropping the book I held. I managed not to though. Then I saw him again, standing down by the end of the bookcase just staring at me. I managed this time to keep my wits about me because I was more used to it now, and said "Wer bist du?" or "Who are you?" He mouthed something at me, but I can barely lip-read English, much less German as I assume he would be using. Then he turned and kind of half-floated, half-walked away through the bookcase.
Haven't seen him since, but I honestly expect to at this point in the stage. So yeah, that's my experience with a very odd ghost.
#9 The Policeman and The Hanging Soldier
I had a call to a residence for a mental evaluation or a "5150." Anyways, I get there and speak to a 50-something-year-old woman, who states her 20-something-year-odd son is under the influence of an unknown drug, and kept repeating that he can't go in his bedroom because there was an old man hanging in his room. She stated she was too scared to go in his room and investigate it for herself, because he constantly brings over friends that are drug addicts, and is unsure if his claims were true or not.
I then go speak to the son, who is clearly under the influence of a stimulate. He goes on to tell me that he was told by a "spirit" to not enter the bedroom, because her father, dressed in his military "Class A" uniform was hanging in his bedroom.
I check the room out and of course there was no body hanging in the room. As I'm in the middle of explaining to the mother that there was no body in the bedroom, a veteran officer arrives on scene to assist me.
He pulls me aside and stated earlier in his career he responded to this residence, and that same bedroom, he had to investigate a suicide by hanging of an older male subject. He didn't remember all the details, so I looked it up in our report management system in my patrol car and sure enough the officer was correct. The subject who died was a WWII veteran and had dressed in his military uniform and hung himself.
In my mind, I always thought that when they purchased the home, possibly this incident was disclosed to them? However, I thought the mother would have mentioned it to me, if it had been disclosed to her. She was genuinely concerned about her son and the allegations.
#10 The Third Floor Bathrooms
My experience might not be the most horrifying or thrilling ghost story of all time but it actually happened. I'm from Yangon, Myanmar. In my city, there is a shopping mall called, ‘Junction Square' which is built on an old cemetery ground. I've heard about ghost sightings in that mall; for instance when a ghost film is on mall's theatre, people might experience ghost sightings in the toilet or even during the film! I'm not a non-believer but I didn't take that seriously. It was of course until me and my sister experienced it ourselves.
I don't remember the date accurately but I'm sure it's in the morning at about 10am. There ain't much people in the mall usually at that time. We went into the toilet on third floor. There was nobody beside us. I was in a W/C and my sister was outside fixing her make-up. While I was in the bathroom, I heard someone coming into the W/C beside mine. I even saw a shadow walking into it and then I heard some flushing and scratching but I didn't care cause I thought someone was in there. Then I came out and noticed my sister looking a bit upset. I wanted to check myself out but she dragged me out of the toilet. When we got outside, she told me that she heard flushing noises but saw nobody come in. That's when I told her about the shadow but she swore she saw nobody going inside the bathroom next to mine. We got so much chills all over the place that day.
But that is not the end. After a couple of days, we went shopping with our Mom and went into the toilet in the third floor again (we should have learned the first time). While we both were in W/Cs, a blackout happened. Of course, we were so freaked out, we just got ourselves spooked the other day! It was for like 30 seconds. After the power was back on, I came out of the W/C and noticed the money I have put in my pants's pocket earlier was missing. My sister came out and found out hers was missing too. Weird! Ok, maybe it's possible that the money fell out but I am pretty sure it was there before the blackout and really? Both of us?!
The last experience wasn't much of an experience. It just something we found super strange. It's again related to that toilet. After sometime we visited the mall again and we were about to enter that spooky toilet. That's when we saw two black butterflies flying near the toilet. It's said that some white and black butterflies are actually souls or ghosts of people who died, right? And most importantly, the place we found them was not geographically or habitable for butterflies to be seen. I mean, on the third floor of an air-contained shopping mall which is built in the middle of the city with no trees around and there didn't seem to be a single flower shop or anything that look like a plant nearby? That doesn't make sense in anyway.
Therefore, after that butterfly incident, we just decided not into go into that toilet ever. And to those who live in Myanmar or plan to visit Myannar, the toilet on the third floor of Junction Square Shopping Mall is haunted!
