Texting, this is the easiest but at the same time most difficult form of communication. Why do I say this? Because one mistake, and you’re done. Yep, it is actually that big a deal. But nobody really thinks much about it when we are talking to our class buddy or a working fellow. But it matters, it really does when you are talking to your “crush”. You just can’t risk making mistakes. So, to ease things up, and help you have a good time, I’ve something for you. #1 Keep it short.
This is your “numero uno” when it comes down to texting my friend. Of course, there is no word limit. But people, no one here is up for reading your text novels. So keep it short, I mean not like small talk like short, cause that too is irritating. Nor does it mean that you will type a single word in each text and keep filling up their notifications. Just stick to the point instead of turning it into a history lesson!
#2 Don’t freak out if you didn’t get a reply.
Okay, I agree that this is annoying when talking with someone special. But guys, we are all humans, we all have works to do. Nobody (except people like us!) actually has nothing to do but wait helplessly for a reply. So If he/she is taking very long (which might seem very very long) don’t lose hope. And don’t get frustrated, leave them for sometime, they eventually will if they are interested in talking to you.
#3 Don’t take the “I’ll not respond” revenge. Always reply.
If the other person is not replying fast enough, that doesn’t mean that you too purposely choose not to reply fast enough. If you want to talk to him, then respond like you would normally do. But if he’s annoying, not replying is probably best.
#4 If the person is texting you, don’t call back to respond.
Yes, this is a very important thing that you need to take note of. It’s simple bro if the person is texting you, he/she certainly doesn’t want to talk on call, or else they would’ve called you up in the first place, duh! And trust me introverts like texting more than talking.
#5 Try and Avoid Sarcasm.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but yes you need to curb down your sarcasm while texting. Sarcasm in text only works when you’re talking to someone you know really well, who could understand and respond to your sarcasm. Otherwise it just sounds a bit rude and you could end up hurting someone’s feelings.
#6 Check your auto-correct. No. Double check it.
Auto-correct this is one of a hilarious texting rules, it actually messes things up more than it makes. So you definitely might want to be careful with this one. You don’t want to land up making a different impression of you altogether.
#7 Check the name of the person whom you’re sending it to.
OMFG! this. A lot of us (especially me!) have a habit of creating a mess by sending wrong texts to wrong people. So, make sure you double/triple check the name of the person the text is intended for. Because the worst thing about texting is that once you send it , instagramyou can never get it back!
#8 Maintain text proportions.
Look, if you’re the one writing novels, don’t get too mad if the other person is responding with short replies. Take a HINT! Or if the other person is sending you long texts don’t just be done with “OH” “K” cause this sh*t is annoying.
#9 Don’t use HASHTAGS in your text. DON’T. Period.
You’re not Instagram. You just look like an idiot, which is the last thing you’d want to look like. So, speak human and make yourself look mentally sane.
#10 DON’T USE SHOUTY CAPITALS! (Did I use just use caps? Oops!)
Okay, to use CAPS means yelling in the language of texting. So, unless you’re really really mad or really really happy, avoid using caps, please.
