Police arrested a middle school girl on 26 February for bringing stun guns to school and selling them to her classmates. The police are still working on retrieving the sold guns and the girl has been shifted to Juvenile Assessment Center where she is being charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
A 12-year old middle school girl was recently arrested by the police after she was caught selling stun guns to her friends in school. Police got an alert by a staff member at Coleman Middle School alerted the administration that students were reporting that Reese Cash had a stun-gun on campus.
Upon arrival, police found two black Vipertek stun-guns were in her possession. The girl gave a statement to Tampa Bay police that she bought the stun guns online and bought them to school to sell to her classmates. She also confessed that before getting caught she also sold three stun guns a day before.
The price of the Vipertek models owned by each student starts from $9.99 on Amazon. According to the authorities, no one was threatened by the weapon and the resource officer is now contacting all those students who were sold the guns to retrieve them.
As per officials, the girl will be released due to the non-violent nature of the offense, a Daily Mail report suggests.
As per Fox 13, the three stun guns that the girl sold have still not been retrieved and the police are still working on it as the resource officer is contacting parents to search for the guns.
After getting arrested, the girl was shifted to the Juvenile Assessment Center and has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property. According to the state's statutes, possessing or discharging weapons or firearms of any sort is strictly prohibited on school property in Florida.
The Hillsborough County Public Schools Board prohibits visitors from possessing, storing, making, or using a weapon, including a concealed firearm, in a school safety zone and in any setting that is under the control and supervision of the district.
According to criminaldefencelawyer.com, "Stun guns administer an electric shock on direct contact. When a stun gun is activated (usually by pulling a trigger), electricity passes between two metal prongs at the end of the weapon. A painful shock is delivered when these electrified prongs touch the target. The shock can stun and perhaps even incapacitate the target briefly."
