13 Frustrating Things Today's Anime Fans Will Never Experience
1. Buying space by eating VHS tapes of your favorite shows.
You were happy if a tape had two episodes plus the intro and outro.
2. Dub or sub was a legit concern
Dual audio was not possible on VHS, and we doubt you would want to double dip, no matter how great a series is.
3. Accidently buying the TV edit version
Ain't nobody got time to read small print!
4. Missing an episode on Toonami or Ani-Monday, and hoping it will air during a marathon or re-runs
DVRs weren't always a thing
5. Being at the mercy of Toonami and Sci-Fi's questionable scheduling decisions
Rurouni Kenshin is on at midnight uncut, expect for the several episodes shown at 3 p.m. that were edited, and then it was killed off half-way through season 3. Screw it, I'll stick with Dragon Ball Z.
6. Finding no blank VHS tapes that you can use to record an anime marathon with
Not like my parent's wedding video is important.
7. Wishing your local record store would carry anime soundtracks
I don't want to hear N'SYNC again on the radio, I want Yoko Kanno!
8. Waiting an hour or two to download your favorite anime opening
So happy that I waited to listen to a crap quality version of "Change the World."
9. Having to wait for bootleg copies to come out
There was always that one person that had the latest episodes on bootleg.
10. Sketchy subtitles
You can't get away with troll subs much anymore, unless you purposely seek them out.
11. Not being able to reliably import figures or other merchandise
Sure glad I paid $150 for a counterfiet at a convention, now it's falling apart.
12. Scattered community
I guess I'll have a cosplay party with myself.
13. Going to rent something at Blockbuster, only to be disappointed by their anime selection
I guess I'll rent Pokemon the Movie again...
