With all that's been going on in the world these past few years, user ItsTheCess needed some feel good news and decided to ask Reddit for help.

"What are some goof things happening in the world right now?" read the question and Reddit delivered.

We may finally have a way to break down plastic waste

"Scientists have discovered a worm that can digest plastic, and they are currently trying to copy it's digestive system. This can help solve a huge problem."

Solar energy is the way to go.

"An Arkansas school district installed 1400 solar panels, turned a $250k deficit into a 1.8 million dollar surplus due to the amount of energy they saved, and are now raising teachers salaries by 2,000 3,000 dollars."

Cancer treatments are becoming more and more effective.

"Several extremely promising treatments for cancer are being developed."

Polio may soon be a thing of the past.

"Polio was officially eliminated from Africa last year."

A mummified baby mammoth was found in permafrost

"They found a baby mammoth so that's pretty cool."

John Cena is a good egg.

"World poverty is half what it was in 1990 and still dropping. Inequality has increased but it's increased in the other direction (rich getting richer).

That's pretty awesome and doesn't get talked about at all"

The new age is pretty cool.

"You can effectively and freely communicate with almost any other person on the planet at anytime, usually with video. It's also instant. The only requirement is that you have "connected" with them. Shit is fucking awesome."

People are making smarter political decisions.

"People are become more aware and informed politically.

If the youth keeps staying engaged, we can change our future policies much faster."

"We finally found out the reason for SIDS (Sudden Dead Infant Syndrome), apparently is a lack of some nutrient or vitamin or something.

Which means, in the future it can he avoided and eradicated all together and the parents that lost their child's no longer need to be guilty for it. The dead of their child was not their fault."

Mental health awareness is on the rise as people become more self-aware.

"Self development and the mental health advocacy- a lot of people are trying to break generational curses and doing a lot of introspection."

The world's favourite animal was successfully preserved.
