A man forced to use adult nappies due to a medical problem says he is no longer embarrassed.

Marc Spaganuolo has struggled with bowel and bladder control for 20 years.

He remained silent about his illness because he was humiliated, and he even blamed his incontinence on his dog.

Marc, 35, suffers from peripheral neuropathy, a degenerative nerve disease. This occurs when the brain fails to receive signals from the bladder and bowel when they are both full.

He began experiencing incontinence at the age of 15 and went through years of testing before receiving a diagnosis at 25.

Marc now claims he's looking for love on his dating profile and is upfront and honest about his illness. Most people, he claims, are "open and understanding" about it.

Marc described his problem as follows: "It started with bed wetting. I tried to hide it and blamed it on my dog at first. My dog was elderly so I got away with that for a few months."

"Eventually, my dad found out and said 'We need to take you to the doctor'. I didn't want to go, but my dad was saying it could be a urinary tract infection. That convinced me.

"It was embarrassment that stopped me wanting to go. It wasn't like it was happening every night, it was sporadic at first. Here and there. Now it's daily."

Marc initially assumed that he would grow out of his illness, but it became evident that this was not the case as time went on.

After suffering from the disease, he discovered protective underwear, which he now wears regularly.

One of Marc's current obstacles is the realm of Dating. He stated:

"One of the biggest challenges of my life is dating, because it's been such a gradual process for me to get to where I am now," he admitted.

"But of course, I'd love to meet somebody."

He hopes to tap into a community and help people who need it through TikTok.

"I launched my TikTok in September 2021," he said.

"I knew people needed help with this stuff, and it took off from there"

"TikTok's algorithm was really good at finding people who needed this content."

Marc now has 41,000 Instagram followers, with most of them sending him support as he deals with his illness.

Marc makes sure he's always prepared because his illness is unpredictable, and he has extra nappies and wipes on hand in case of an accident.

He stated:

"I keep diapers in a backpack, along with wipes. It depends where I'm going and what I'm doing, of course."

"I prefer and recommend diapers because I've heard so many horror stories about catheters and stomas."

"I just think 'why go through that when I can manage with a diaper?'"
