You know that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you sense that it is over? Signs are popping up all over. A distant look in the eyes. Simple conversations become difficult often turning into looping arguments. Texts ignored. Your partner is pulling away. Panic sets in. We are failing. Question surfaces, “Is my relationship coming to an end?”
Relationships end for a variety of reasons. However, if your partner is leaving because of things you repeatedly do to push him/her away, then it is important that you get a grip on yourself and change your pattern. This is not a quick fix solution.
Here are five ways to attempt to fix things before they reach critical mass.
1. Talk about it.
Your partner may be feeling the same way that you do. Talking with each other about the state of your relationship can lead to its repair.
2. Put yourself in your partner's shoes.
There's nothing like a little bit of empathy for bringing about understanding.
3. Kindness is key.
Working through relationship issues together requires kind words.
4. If you've forgiven, then move on.
Bringing up past problems with your partner that have been dealt with will only stoke mutual resentment.
5. Make time to be together as well as apart.
Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean that you shouldn't have separate interests.
Does it feel like your relationship is sinking into the abyss?
Don't give up the ship just yet.
So, go ahead and try these five ways to fix before you call it quits.
Of course, your relationship may not be salvageable. But don't give up hope until you try.
