In October of 2009, an Arkansas man named Schuler Benson opened his primitive steam-powered flip phone and tried to log into Facebook. This was before technology existed, so the stone age Facebook app had plenty of bugs (it still does). Instead of giving him the option to log in, it automatically logged him in to a stranger's account. It took a few minutes of posting to realize that he was doing so as Celeste Zendler of Boulder, Colorado.

Eventually, Benson got in touch with Zendler's friends through her account, and together they engaged in a panicked quest to figure out the glitch. Then Benson found out and got involved herself. It was a modern day comedy of errors, played out entirely through social media:

As you can tell from these screenshots, Celeste and "Celeste" quickly started bonding over the shared crisis. Ultimately, Zendler had to send Benson a friend request in order for him to log out of her account. While it would take a software engineer to understand why, the results worked out very well for both of them.

She had intended to delete him as a friend after a few days, but instead they started chatting. Although they had no mutual friends or Facebook interests, they soon discovered they had an eerie amount in common. It was like they were meant to be, and only Mark Zuckerberg had seen it. They became friends online, and finally met in person in June 2013. A few months later, Zendler moved to Arkansas to be with Benson.

In June of 2014, they got engaged, and then they moved to South Carolina (the state of marital bliss). On June 21, 2015, they finally made it Facebook official:

It's a truly romantic story, and one that could only have happened in the 21st century. Benson posted these images to Imgur, where they've gone viral with lovelorn Reddit types. He summed up his feelings about the whole affair like this:

I found my partner, my best friend, my great love via a simple glitch in social media. There are awful things in this world, but sometimes there's beauty, too. This is my beauty.

That's a lovely sentiment. But in case you think marriage has made these modern tech-savvy lovers lose their edge, worry no more:
