There is definitely a difference between a job and a career. Usually, a career is a path that you choose to walk, so it's probably related to something that you are or were passionate about at some point or another. When that passion fades and all you have left is a time card and a crappy paycheck, then you have yourself a job.
Loosely defined, a job is a series of mind-numbing or soul-sucking tasks that you agree to complete for small monetary gain. If you haven't just inherited a moderate fortune, you probably need a job to survive. So basically, you must sacrifice all joy and fulfillment for running water and canned food. This is not a new concept. It has been going on since the time of feudal land ownership and although it may seem different, you are still sacrificing your dignity for a small patch of land and a roof over your head.
Congratulations, serf, this is what being an adult is all about. The faster you let go of your desire to be happy and start embracing a life of mediocrity, the closer you are to becoming one of these people.
