The first question that merits an answer is what makes an individual smart. Is it the abundance of facts that one can memorize? Is it the above average, or exceptional, IQ? Perhaps, it is the wisdom to make a sound decision at the crucial moment, or knowing how to make the best out of the bad situation.
Maybe it is the ability to take as many aspects as possible into consideration before deciding on the future course of action. It is probably a good combination of all the previously mentioned traits.
Of course, if someone is smart and successful, it is hard to pinpoint what exactly is responsible for that person’s success and wellbeing. Truth be told, it is far easier to notice what these smart people don’t do and arrive at a conclusion as to what is to be avoided. As long as we circumvent these negative things, the rest will come naturally.
There are certain things that many of think about at work that hold us back.
If you want to be successful at work, here are some things you need to push out of your head.
Dwelling on how much you hate your job.
Many of us dislike our jobs. If you stew over that, you're going to be extremely unhappy.
Thinking about how wild you used to be.
Some of us sit in our cubicles thinking about how crazy we were in college. Those days are gone. It's just a sad fact of life.
Thoughts that your coworkers are incompetent.
Many of us have issues with coworkers. If you dwell on that fact, it will ultimately affect your performance.
Worrying about what your coworkers do in their bedrooms.
You may want to gossip about potential office romances. Put these thoughts out of your head and just focus on your job.
Thinking about how much money you make (or don't make).
Some of us obsess over salary. Put that out of your head and work harder. The money will be there eventually.
Focusing on the political opinions of your coworkers.
Talking politics at work is never a good idea. If you get too hung up on the political opinions of your coworkers, you won't be good at your job.
Thinking about how attractive you find a coworker.
Office crushes are natural. but office romances almost never end well. Try not to dwell on your attraction.
Dreaming of finding a new job.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. If you're constantly looking for new work, you won't be effective at your current one.
Now that you know these, you can be successful at work!
