A 97-year-old Bekema was supposed to complete her high school diploma in 1936. She was under pressure from her family and was forced to quit school to take care of her mom who was sick with cancer. Luckily because of her relative, she has recently received this honor of graduation.

#4 The Central Principal Greg Deja presented her diploma to her. He said, “Her life has been one of sacrifice and service. It has been so encouraging and inspiring for our community because her choices represent all the core values that we teach our students.”
