A Couple Adopted 3 Children. When Their Neighbor Sees What They Do, She Has To Intervene!
#1
This story shows us that sometimes family is so much more than we can imagine. Julia Washington and her husband already had two biological daughters when they decided that they wanted to expand their family through adoption. They wanted to give an orphaned child a new home.
#2
Brothers Michael, Jess, and Camden were living together in an orphanage. Michael is 6 years old and thinks of himself as the protector of his younger brothers. Above all, Jess needs his support, because he suffers from a disease known as infantile Cerebral Palsy. The disease leads to spasticity, which affects coordination of the limbs. It is rare that children with this disability are adopted at all. When when the Washingtons got to know these inseparable brothers, it was instantly clear: The children had won their hearts. They would have never been able to take home just one of the boys. Even if they'd wanted to adopt just one child, it was clear that these three boys would not be separated.

So in the end, they decided to take a big leap: They adopted all three boys! In doing so, they turned their family of four into a family of seven! It would be a great challenge, particularly because Jess' disability requires a lot of attention. But Julia and her husband are excited to become the parents of these boys. However, the joyful momentum was interrupted when they received a sudden phone call from the orphanage: That was when Julia first learned of Elijah.

Elijah is 17 months old and the youngest brother of Jess, Michael, and Camden. Since he was a baby, he required special care and was placed in a different orphanage 1,000 miles away from his siblings. The thought that this little boy had already been separated from his brothers for so long broke Julia's heart. But what could she do?
#5
The management at the orphanage asked her if she also wanted to adopt Elijah. Even though there was nothing that Julia would have liked to do more, a sixth child, and a baby at that, would simply be too much. She was still getting used to having a son with a handicap and she wasn't sure she was up for the challenge. For days thoughts of Elijah raced through her head with increasing doubt. She was sure of one thing: A small and beautiful baby like Elijah would quickly be adopted. But then, he'd probably grow up far away from his brothers. Would they even see each other again? And was it fair that just because he's the youngest, he couldn't live with them?
Then a solution suddenly became clear to Julia: She called her friend and neighbor, Jay Houston.

Jay was adopted as a child. Today, she has a happy marriage. Together with her husband, she has two biological children and - because she knows how important it is for children to have a family - she's adopted four orphaned children.
#7
Julia asked her best friend to adopt Elijah so that he could grow up close to his brothers and live in a loving home.
#8
Jay didn't have to think it over for very long. Along with her husband, she hurried to submit all the required documents. Because they were already proven to be great adoptive parents, the agency was delighted that they also wanted to take on the little boy. Both "new" mothers swore to one another that the four boys would always grow up as brothers and have both families as their home.

So Elijah arrived home to his new family: the Houstons. Michael, Jess, and Camden know that Elijah is their little brother.

All of the children, whether they're related or not, are loved and cared for. The families spend a lot of time together and make sure that the boys see each other as often as possible. And because they live in the same neighborhood, it is never a problem to swing by! They are not two, but ONE huge family, with connections and love that run deep.

What a wonderful happy ending for Michael, Jess, Camden, and Elijah!
