'A sweetly satisfying binge'
Netflix Crime Show Watched For 38.9 Million Hours As Fans Binge It All In One Day
Netflix viewers are currently hooked on a gripping British crime series that many are finishing in just a single day.
The platform is already known for having some unforgettable crime dramas—from those led by Mindhunter stars to recent hits that fans call ‘one of the best ever’. But if you thought you’ve already seen everything in the genre, think again.
With more than 7,000 shows and movies available on Netflix, it’s no surprise that a few gems may have gone unnoticed by even the biggest binge-watchers.
One of those hidden gems has clearly struck a chord, racking up an impressive 38.9 million streaming hours, according to data from FlixPatrol.
Many fans have confessed they couldn’t stop watching and ended up finishing all six episodes in just one sitting—it’s that addictive.
The show, a mix of mystery and thriller, features Emma Myers, known for her role in Wednesday, playing Pippa Fitz-Amobi.
She’s a bright, curious teenager who decides to reinvestigate a five-year-old murder-suicide for a school assignment.
Andie Bell, played by India Lillie Davies, was a well-liked student who disappeared after spending an evening with her boyfriend Sal Singh, portrayed by Rahul Pattni. Authorities assumed Sal had killed her and then taken his own life.
However, Pip doesn’t buy that explanation. She starts digging for the truth and uncovers unsettling secrets in her quiet hometown of Little Kilton. But as she gets closer to uncovering what really happened, her own safety comes into question.
The series, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, is based on the bestselling 2019 novel of the same name by Holly Jackson.
The show originally debuted on BBC in the UK back in July, but it recently made its way to a global audience via Netflix in August.
And here’s some more good news—fans won’t have to say goodbye anytime soon. The show was officially renewed for a second season in November 2024, so it won’t become one of those great shows that ends after just one season.
Over on Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave the show a solid 83 percent rating and described it as: "A frothy series that carries off the classic murder mystery with a light touch, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder's checks all the boxes for a sweetly satisfying binge."
Audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 68 percent score. One enthusiastic fan wrote: "What a show! Binge-watched in a day. A murder mystery with a soul. Riveting plot. Incredible storyline. Keeps you hooked."
Another viewer chimed in: "Emma Myers is great! It had us guessing until the end and hope they do more." while a third fan added their voice, calling it: "An absolutely stunning story that follows the book perfectly, the acting cast was perfect and on the dot. Absolute masterpiece!"
The excitement didn’t stop there. On X (formerly known as Twitter), fans kept the praise going. One user admitted: "I fear I'm binge watching A Good Girl's Guide to Murder."
"I didn't even think I would like it this much but I'm on episode 4 out of 6."
A second user echoed the sentiment and posted: "Just binge watched A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and it was worth the watch, my girls who love plot twists, suspense and murder shows in general, check it out."
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is available to stream now on Netflix, so if you’re into mystery, suspense, and a strong storyline—it’s worth checking out.
