After Bruna suffered a heart attack, David stood by her side in her vegetative state, garnering worldwide support and donations through their touching story of unwavering love and commitment.
A Husband Sacrificed His Entire Life To Care For Wife In A Vegetative State
When Bruna unexpectedly started to seize one night while they were watching television, a gorgeous couple's life was permanently altered.
Her heart stopped during the three-minute incident, which prevented her brain from receiving any oxygen.
She was a different person when her husband David saw her again.
As part of their wedding vows, couples make the promise to love one another "in sickness and in health." They create together as a brand-new family and resolve to stick together through all challenges.
Anyone getting married does not, however, anticipate having to deal with illnesses or other unexpected situations for a very long time.
Unfortunately, taking care of someone is difficult, and many people break their promises when something unforeseen occurs that completely transforms their lives.
Although it is a fact that many married couples choose to overlook, it may be sad and dreadful.
Amazingly, David César and Bruna de Sousa, a married Brazilian couple, did not experience that.
While Bruna's husband hasn't given up on her recovery and will battle to the bitter end for her, their lives may never be the same. Is that what true love is all about?
Bruna de Sousa suffered a sudden heart attack in 2019 while watching TV with David César in their Maracana, Brazil, home.
She started to seize up. Following that, César committed his entire life to taking care of her, never leaving her side. That decision, though, had a number of effects.
Due to his frequent absences, he lost his work shortly after, leaving him unable to cover both their living expenses and medical costs. In order to gather money and continue treating De Sousa and improving her quality of life, César told his tale to the entire world.
People read heartwarming accounts of how love and friendship have conquered obstacles and motivated others to provide financial support on a daily basis.
César's commitment, though, was what really captivated readers and caused the story to go viral.
Even when doctors revived her, it was too late because when her heart stopped pumping, oxygen could not reach her brain properly. Too much damage had been done.
"In a matter of 3 minutes, she lost all vital signs. We ran to the hospital, and after 25 minutes, they managed to revive her, but she'd been without oxygen for a long time," César explained to Razões para acreditar.
César claims that although his wife is immobile and unable to understand what is going on around her due to a trauma that has not affected her neurological system.
She unfortunately still struggles with long-term effects from her arrest and relies on tube feeding to survive while she is in a vegetative state.
Her husband stood at her side throughout this suffering, never giving up hope that his wife would recover or enjoy a respectable quality of life.
He set up an Instagram account to share their life and Bruna's advancement after their endearing story went viral.
On June 29, 2021, César shared a photo of himself cuddling up to his wife on their bed along with the caption: "Unidos eternamente (United forever)."
They currently have over 200k followers on the app, and their photos consistently touch people's hearts everywhere.
The following was posted by user aline_isaidel in a video of Bruna receiving physical therapy for her fingers: "Um amor exemplar 💓! (An exemplary love!)."
Bruna de Sousa spent nearly two years in the hospital with her husband by her side virtually nonstop.
César, however, was unable to pay for their living expenses, much less the extra care his wife needed, after losing his full-time job.
He created a crowdfunding campaign for this reason, and it ultimately raised $28,000. De Sousa's monthly expenses are on the rise, and his job as a driver in Maracanaa is not enough to cover them.
César added the following in an interview with Razes para acreditar: "We haven't achieved her retirement yet. But two volunteer lawyers are helping us. We are living on donations."
There is a bright spot in their story, though. With the aid of de Sousa's neurologists, César finally found a Canadian medicine after a protracted search.
Physical therapy would be required for his wife to attend for three years, but the treatment would cost about $19,000.
They propagated contribution pages, including VOOA, where they received more money than they required, thankfully thanks to their viral story.
Viewers and any possible donors can follow de Sousa's condition on Instagram and leave the pair their prayers and well wishes.
César does his best to encourage anyone who follows their journey by showing his wife in a positive light.
He uploaded a picture of de Sousa sporting stylish sunglasses in their yard to a post from October 1, 2022. He typed, "Minha princesa no banho de sol ☀ï¸ðŸ¤Ž (My princess sunbathing)."
Sadly, de Sousa is unable to return his affection, but one can only hope that she senses his support and commitment to her.
She and others like her may have a chance at a better life if medicine and technology continue to develop.
Bruna de Sousa's health caused hardships and financial distress, but César stuck by her side and still does. Since few people could carry out their wedding vows in that manner, it serves as concrete evidence that true love exists.
David César is frequently praised for his devotion to his wife in comments on Instagram. User andersonrfreireofficial posted the following on a compilation video from May 4, 2023: "I believe in this love, and this made me cry and motivated."
Another user wrote, "She's too beautiful. You guys make a good-looking couple. God is in control of everything."
Someone else added, "My eternal admiration for this beautiful couple. TRUE LOVE."
Bruna de Sousa has a terrific partner supporting her and still showing her affection, therefore it's hard to predict whether she will get better. Because he took his vows seriously, César is likely to look after her "until death do them part."
