A benevolent man has displayed his Christmas spirit in a famous children's toy store in Queensland after clearing off the lay-by balance for up to 70 households.
The guy who did not want to be known recently transferred 'at least' $10,000 under the pseudonym 'Santa Clause' to the store bank account of Gympie's Toyworld.
He told staff members that his wish is that this (money) will spread
'He said 'my wish is that this (money) will spread,' staff member Peta Caldwell told reporters.
At first, her colleague Lorraine Broadley told 7News workers at the toy shop that they were a little suspicious' because money scams are also popular in the festive season.
Some families were really happy after knowing that their debt had been cleared
Ms. Broadley reported that nearly 70 consumers, including those who have been steadily paying off a range of toys since June this year, had excellent lay-by balances.
'Quite a few families were very emotional and burst into tears upon finding out their hefty lay-bys had been paid ahead of Christmas,' she added.
He was motivated by a lady on the Gold Coast
The kind-hearted person said he was motivated by a woman on the Gold Coast who paid $16,000 worth of lay-bys at a Burleigh Waters toy store at the beginning of December to support families suffering at Christmas.
The spontaneous act of kindness, which the woman told employees was inspired by everyone having a difficult year," fulfilled more than 80 orders.
Alannah Loadsman, a single mother-of-two, had put a $60 deposit on her seven-year-old daughter's $300 dollhouse.
Some people were shocked to hear about their debt been cleared
But she was informed it had been fully paid when she called the shop to discuss her order.
'I was shocked, I couldn’t believe it,' she told Daily Mail Australia.
'It was amazing to hear that someone so generously went in and paid off all the lay-bys and I was lucky enough to be one of them.
One single mother told the store staff that she would give a huge hug to the person and tell her how much this has helped her
'If I could meet her I would give her a huge hug and tell her how much this has helped me and hundreds of other families on the Gold Coast.
'She is like a fairy godmother.'
