The latest trend to cross the Pacific is a nail art design known as shattered glass nails. The design is soft and feminine with a hard edge, as pastel colors and fragmented patterns make rainbow nails glitter and shine.

The design was invented by Park Eun Kyung, owner of Unistella by E.K., a South Korean nail salon known for its innovative nail design.

First, paint your nails white. Once they are completely dry, paint liquid latex on the edges of the nails to easily remove polish that falls on the edges and skin. This is a great tip for any home manicure.

Once the liquid latex dries, take a makeup sponge with stripes of four different colors, and dab the sponge onto your white nails. Creativenailart uses pink, yellow, blue and purple, but you can experiment with your favorite colors.

Paint a clear coat before removing the liquid latex with tweezers.

Now, to get the stunning reflective look of shattered glass, cut iridescent tissue paper in several shapes and sizes. Carefully apply the pieces to your nails, creating a variety of patterns. Seal with a top coat and voilà! Professional, party-ready shattered glass nails.
