Jamie Lynn is a family and marriage therapist who also works as a model, and she has spoken out about how, despite her qualifications and experience, she is often assessed by her appearance.
A therapist who also works as a model has spoken about how her two careers sometimes cross.
It might be awkward when her clients see how beautiful their therapist is.
Jamie Lynn models and has over 11,000 followers on Instagram. She also works as a marriage and family therapist, where she assists couples in resolving their conflicts.
Jamie has disclosed that, although her professional skills, she is frequently assessed by potential clients based on her appearance.
“It’s just like a regular job… When I say therapist, what I always get is, ‘oh, massage therapist’." the model revealed on the Michael Sartain Podcast.
"Now I'm like, 'no, I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist', and I think most people are surprised by that because attractiveness kind of disqualifies you from having a position of authority sometimes."
As a result, Jamie noted how some ladies were disappointed to learn that she would be their marriage therapist.
"It doesn't happen often, but I have had situations where I do get appointments for couples, and I've had the women refuse to meet with me," she admitted.
"I've had women get up and walk out of my office, and they won't let their husbands come see me or anything like that."
Jamie also revealed that men would occasionally cross her ethical lines and try to chat her up in addition to these exceptional cases.
"I've had guys hit on me," she confessed.
"I haven't had a guy get marriage counseling and hit on me, but I've had many clients ask me out on dates, or they'll give me gifts."
Jamie also told Michael about how she came into working as a therapist, saying, "It just sort of found me." It wasn't something I was attempting to accomplish."
The model recalled being in high school, unsure of what she wanted to do, and thinking to herself that she may become a wonderful psychologist.
"I stuck with it, and I started attracting these opportunities… I found myself in positions where people would share with me, or I just was a natural helper or healer," she said.
