Pency Lucero was fast asleep when she was suddenly awoken by a loud banging on her cabin. Her Airbnb host wanted to make sure she didn't miss the northern lights.
Getting to see the northern lights for yourself is a beautiful experience that not everyone gets to have. Even if you were to make the trek to where they’re visible, it’s a gamble as to whether they’ll show up in their full glory when you’re waiting.
Pency Lucero made the trip to Rorback, Sweden to take that chance. She booked her stay at a cabin that had the northern lights in their pictures and cooked it as fast as she could.
When she landed, however, the place was packed with snow and the sky was ‘barely visible’.
‘Martin’, the world’s most dedicated Airbnb host was not going to let guests miss this chance of a lifetime that he happens to witness every day.
He volunteered to wake her up if the lights decided to show up late in the night.
His watch finally ended when Lucero was awoken in the middle of the night. Lucero who was presumable still sleepy said that she thought it was a prank.
She was awestruck by its beauty and said that videos and pictures didn't do it justice.
“I was mostly in awe of what this Earth is capable of. I never expected it to be THAT beautiful for the naked eye.”
She added another video showing the northern light reasserting that it was just not the same on video.
“Our video doesn’t do it justice at all…I would argue it’s even better for the naked eye.”

Martin said sharing this experience and seeing people’s reaction to them was “better than the lights themselves.” He also added, “Sometimes it feels like it will pull you up in the sky like you are in the middle of it. I wish everyone would have the chance to witness it.”
