Alabama Mother Throws Computer And Threatens Airline Staff After Losing Children Before Check In
After throwing a computer monitor in the direction of a Miami-Dade International Airport employee, an Alabama woman was arrested and placed in jail.
After a video of the confrontation from Tuesday was shared on Twitter, Reddit, and TikTok, Camilia McMillie, 25, became well-known.
McMillie was trying to check in at the gate for an American Airlines trip from Miami to New York City after missing a previous flight.
According to Miami police, McMillie grew "irate and started to scream" after learning that her two children had left without telling her.
The children had gone to the bathroom, but a witness told WSVN that McMillie entered "panic mode" when the children disappeared.
In her haste, McMillie insisted that a gate agent assist her in finding her children as she started looking for them.
Investigators claim that McMillie continued to act aggressively, pulling a boarding pass reader off of a wooden counter and causing damage to both the surroundings and the actual device.
She screamed throughout, with onlookers observing and at least a few of them filming the action.
According to the authorities, McMillie then allegedly grabbed the computer monitor and tossed it at the gate agent, striking her in the shoulder.
McMillie was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents until the arrival of the local police.
According to a police document, McMillie injured the gate agent's right shoulder which cost over $10,000 in damages.
Charges of aggravated violence, criminal mischief, and disorderly behavior have been brought against McMillie, a resident of Birmingham, Alabama.
She was imprisoned and is now being held under a $13,000 bond.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is allegedly assisting McMillie's children, according to the police.
American Airlines issued a statement denouncing the outburst: 'Acts of violence against our team members are not tolerated by American Airlines and we are committed to working closely with law enforcement in their investigation. Our thoughts are with our team members, and we are ensuring they have the support they need at this time,' the airline said in a statement.
