Amanda Seyfried is standing firm on her comments about Charlie Kirk and says she has no intention of walking them back.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a polarizing political figure, was assassinated in September after being shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University.

His death sparked widespread reactions across social media, and many public figures shared their thoughts, including the Mamma Mia! star.

In response to an Instagram post discussing Kirk’s stances on issues such as abortion, Seyfried wrote: "He was hateful."

Her short remark quickly caused backlash online, prompting her to expand on what she meant and explain her feelings in more detail.

She later clarified her position in another Instagram post, saying: "We're forgetting the nuance of humanity."

"I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk's murder was absolutely disturbing and imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence."

"This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings," she added. "Can we agree on that at least?"

Seyfried has since revisited the conversation and made it clear that she does not regret expressing her opinion the first time around.

Speaking to WhoWhatWear, the Jennifer’s Body actress said: "I'm not f**king apologizing for that. I mean, for f**k's sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes."

"What I said was pretty damn factual, and I'm free to have an opinion, of course."

Seyfried continued by saying: "Thank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized—which is what people do, of course."

Seyfried was not the only celebrity who addressed Kirk’s death. Jamie Lee Curtis also reacted at the time, calling Kirk’s views “abhorrent” while acknowledging that he was still a father and a person of faith.

She said on the WTF podcast: "I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith."

"Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he's a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it."

Curtis later clarified that she was not trying to praise Kirk but was instead commenting on his faith and the complicated way people react to tragedy.
