Amber Heard continues to become entangled in her own web of lies as she recently admitted to the court that she is yet to donate the divorce settlement payout to the charities she earlier committed to in front of the whole world. However, what is truly disturbing in this revelation is that the actress had previously told the libel case in the UK court that she cleared out the payout to the committed charities.
Amber Heard Admits To Court That She Hasn't Donated $7m Divorce Settlement To Charity As Promised
Amber Heard has admitted to the court during cross-examination that she is yet to donate the $7 million that she received as part of her divorce settlement as committed.
As Depp and Heard reached their divorce settlement back in 2016, Heard announced to the world that she will donate the whole payout to charity and the amount would be split equally between the American Civil Liberties Union and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
However, it is clear that the ACLU’s Chief Operating Officer, Terence Dougherty testified earlier in the trial that so far the organization only received a total of $1.3m.
Even though Heard testified in court that she had received the full settlement by October 2018.
Apart from this, Dougherty also added that $500,000 of the donation came from an account at investment firm Vanguard, which Dougherty said he ‘believed was a fund set up by Elon Musk’, who Heard dated after breaking up with Depp.
Heard said that she still intends to donate all of the money she promised but that she can't 'because Johnny sued me for $50m (£40m) in March of 2019’:
I still fully intend on honoring all of my pledges. I would love him to stop suing me so I can.
In 2018, Heard appeared on Dutch talk show RTL Late Night and said:
$7million in total was donated – I split it between the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. I wanted nothing.
When asked by her lawyer Elain Bredehoft why she accepted a $7m settlement from Depp, Heard said:
I didn’t care about the money. I was told if I didn’t agree to a number it could be overturned, we would never settle. I took far less than what they were offering and what I was entitled to.
