Amber Heard has expressed her disgust with her ex-husband Johnny Depp's celebration of their defamation victory on TikTok, where he thanked his followers for their support and stated that they were moving forward.
Amber Heard Slams Johnny Depp's Tiktok Debut: "Women's Rights Are Moving Backward"
Depp posted on TikTok for the first time - sharing a montage video of himself, alongside the caption: “To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. "
“We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. "
“You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you.
“My love & respect, JD.”
Depp made his TikTok debut less than a week after the jury in his high-profile defamation trial against Heard won in his favor.
The trial lasted several months and TikTok fans devoured every minute. Depp was the undoubted favorite, dominating hashtags and trends over his ex-wife.
On 7th June, users welcomed him to the app with open arms.
'JOHNNY'S FIRST TIKTOK!' one proclaimed in the comments section.
'We always stand with you Johnny!' said another.
Now, a spokesperson for Heard has shared a statement with Law & Crime Trial Network producer Cathy Russon, who covered the trial extensively, which reads: "As Johnny Depp says he's 'moving forward,' women's rights are moving backward.
“The verdict's message to victims of domestic violence is… be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
After losing the trial last week, Heard shared a statement on social media saying she was ‘heartbroken’ about the outcome.
She wrote: “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my ex-husband.
"I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.
"I believe Johnny's attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK.
"I'm sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly."
Meanwhile, Depp's star attorney Camille Vasquez has been promoted at her law firm.
She was a breakout star of the trial and the subject of countless memes and TikTok videos.
In an announcement, the firm said: 'Vasquez was a key member of the litigation team that won a jury verdict on June 1, 2022 for actor Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.'
The firm's CEO said: 'Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year.
'But Camille's performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now.
'We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.'
