Apple’s upcoming feature for FaceTime calls is stirring quite a bit of buzz, especially for what it does when things start to get a little steamy during a video chat.

According to reports, if a FaceTime session starts showing a bit too much skin, the video feed will automatically pause and audio will cut off. Right then, a warning message will appear on the screen.

This new feature came into the spotlight when Twitter user iDeviceHelp posted about it, quickly grabbing attention from iPhone users everywhere.

In their post, they shared: "In iOS 26 FaceTime will pause the Video if you're undressing while on a FaceTime call here's the on screen prompt warning that you get asking if you would like to resume audio and video or End the call."

As of now, it’s still unclear whether this warning pops up for everyone or just users under a certain age. Apple initially mentioned the feature in the context of protecting children’s privacy and safety, which makes some people wonder if it’ll only apply to minors or everyone once iOS 26 rolls out.

What has Apple said about the new FaceTime feature?

Apple has shared some insight into how this feature works: "Communication Safety uses on-device machine learning to analyze photo and video attachments and determine if a photo or video appears to contain nudity."

"Because the photos and videos are analysed on your child's device, Apple doesn't receive an indication that nudity was detected and doesn't get access to the photos or videos as a result."

Still, that hasn’t stopped people from wondering if the warning will interrupt consenting adults who are using FaceTime for a little intimate chat. The debate continues as users try to understand exactly how the detection works and whether it applies in all cases.

After iDeviceHelp posted the update on Twitter, people quickly started weighing in. Some pointed out that the feature isn’t turned on by default. Others had pretty strong opinions about what it means for privacy and personal freedom on a private call.

One person said: "Good feature but how would it know why is it being monitored???? Thats more concerning glad its off by default."

Some people have raised eyebrows at this move Apple

Another chimed in with: "Honestly kinda sucks. I'm married so those days are long gone but damn can't even get a little tease anymore on FaceTime… Apple why?"

A third added their two cents with: "Now people will think apple has access to the content of the video call guess it's not their business .. no one asked for this .... Stupid idea."

How can you turn off the FaceTime feature?

If you’re not a fan of the Sensitive Content Warning, you can easily switch it off.

Just head over to your FaceTime settings, and you’ll find an option where you can toggle the warning on or off as you like.
