iPhone’s neat new feature ensures that they don’t get into your files and access passwords even if they have access to your phone.
Apple Just Launched A Clever Way To Protect Your iPhone From Thieves
Once you’ve gotten your phone stolen, that’s it. There’s usually no getting it back.
Whoever’s got it has gone off with it and the police aren’t willing to put their resources towards procuring your phone.
Then the thieves will go about their usual, accessing the phone through nefarious ways, finding all your passwords, wiping away everything to make it seem new, and sell it to some unsuspecting new customer.
The iOS 17.3 beta aims to solve a few of the above problems.
The clever new security feature is called ‘Stolen Device Protection’ which’ll be the last line of defense between you and your iPhone thief.
In regular circumstances, if the thief has your passcode or is able to figure it out, they’ll be able to access everything and create some havoc along the way.
You’ll then have the tiresome job of changing all your passwords, blocking your credit cards, and applying for new ones.
With this new feature, users can ensure that their phone opens for no one.
When turned on, users can access some of the phone’s features but not the ones that matter.
Passwords can only be viewed if you use Face or Touch ID and unless your thief is your own twin, then they’re SOL.
If someone does try to change passwords and fails on the first attempt, they will be required to do so with the same Biometric authentication.
The feature is an opt-in which means you’ll have to go to your settings and activate it.
This can be done by going to your settings, tapping on ‘Face ID & Passcode’, then activating ‘Stolen Device Protection’.
There you go, now you’ll have peace of mind, even if you've lost access to your phone.
