#1. Ariana Grande, Demon Photographer, 2013

In one of her most candid interviews to date, Grande came off unfiltered in a Complex magazine cover story and wasn't afraid to get a little paranormal. She insisted she had had an experience with demons after visiting a cemetery in Kansas City. "I took a picture and there are three super distinct faces in the picture they're faces of textbook demons," she told the magazine. Though it provided some social media fodder for a few days, most observers quickly forgot about Ariana's brush with the supernatural.

#2. Ariana Says Yes to the Dresses, 2014

Coming up through Nickelodeon with the usual squeaky-clean, kid-actress image, Grande wasted no time shedding that as soon as proper adulthood allowed. In 2014, she rocked a number of memorably, unabashedly bodycon outfits. A-plus choices included a black-and-white patent-leather mini dress at the Billboard Music Awards, a crop top and shorts in Cosmopolitan and three different pairs of thigh-high boots at the VMAs. Some folks tried to make this a thing, but Grande couldn't be bothered to give the tabloid talk any attention.

#3. Ariana vs. the Press, 2014

In recent years, Grande has shown she has little patience for the gossip content mill. Through 2014, many slapped her with the "diva" label over a few interactions and rumors. She allegedly only wanted to be photographed from one side. When she didn't like how things were going at a photo shoot in Sydney, she demanded the photos be destroyed and canceled all remaining shoots for the day. Some may cry "diva," but it's also Grande just taking a stand to not allow others to control her image.

#4. Jennette McCurdy Beef, 2014

On Nickelodeon's Sam & Cat, Jennette McCurdy played the Cat to Grande's Sam a role which involved them, naturally, playing best friends. The duo broke hearts when a rift played out publicly over social media. Briefly, this involved McCurdy not showing up at the Kids' Choice Awards where Grande won Favorite TV Actress. Later, McCurdy dropped a long subtweet about a draining friendship, and later released a web series featuring a snotty, pop-singing character called "Gloriana," which most interpreted as a dis directed at Grande.

#5. The Great Donut-Licking Incident, 2015

It was the pastry molestation heard around the Internet. Grande and friends hit up a California donut shop and got caught on camera licking countertop trays of donuts and laughing about it. Mild stuff but then she allegedly said, reacting to a different tray of donuts, "What the fuck is this? I hate Americans. I hate America. That is disgusting." Police got involved, health code inspectors looked into the donut shop and even Rob Lowe chimed in to dis Grande on Twitter. She, again, shrugged it off, explaining it as a reaction to the American obesity crisis and finally sending it up for redemption, as so many public figures do, on Saturday Night Live.
