Arnold Schwarzenegger informed his son Joseph Baena that he would stop providing for him financially as soon as he graduated from college. The 74-year-old Terminator actor supported his son's college education, and Joseph expressed his gratitude for this.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Refused To Financially Support His Son After He Finished College
When the Terminator actor told his 24-year-old son that his financial support ended after he earned his college degree, Baena went on a slightly different career path to make ends meet.
"I’m grateful that my dad helped me get through college,” Baena told Essentially Sports.
"But right when the college was done, it was just like, 'You go. You’re on your own.' I was like, 'Oh, s**t'."
Baena chose to enter the real estate sector to support himself after finishing his studies, even though he is an aspiring actor and bodybuilder.
"So yeah, I needed a job, and I was not getting any of the acting roles that I thought I was going to get, and like starting to get paid," the 24-year-old said.
"I was like, 'I need to do something, so I started interning at this real estate company."
ARIA Properties in Los Angeles hired Arnie's son to work there.
He still works there today after learning that he has a little aptitude for real estate immediately after beginning his internship.
"I went in there. I was like, 'I want to just learn as much as possible while making some kind of income'," he told Essentially Sports.
"And then I enjoyed it and was like, 'Oh, I think I can do this pretty well. So, I got my license."
If you're wondering why Baena doesn't have his renowned father's last name, it's because the Terminator actor had a secret love child with another woman.
Joseph is the son of Arnold and the Schwarzenegger family's former housekeeper Mildred Baena.
Unknown to the public until 2011, Mildred was supposedly carrying Joseph at the time Schwarzenegger's ex-wife Maria Shriver was expecting their fourth child.
Baena described how, when he was a senior in high school, rumors about his famous father started to circulate in a recent interview with Men's Health.
"I remember the day very vividly," he said.
"I was in the eighth grade.”
"Fifth or sixth period. And I get called out of class to leave.”
"And my mom's there, and she's like, 'We gotta go – everyone is finding out about you and who your father is.'"
Baena has just revealed his reasons for not adopting Arnie's last name.
"Well I already have a last name, and I don't have a problem with my last name," he told Inside Edition,
"I like my last name."
