Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis once made casual comments about bathing, and people have been debating it ever since
Ashton Kutcher has spoken up about the rumor that he and his wife, Mila Kunis, don’t shower the “normal” way, after people have been talking about it for years.
The whole conversation really kicked off back in July 2021 when Kunis talked about her hygiene routine during an episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.
"I don't wash my body with soap every day. But I wash pits and tits and holes and soles," she admitted.
Kutcher also joined in during the same podcast episode and shared his side of it too, which only added more fuel to the conversation.
He said: "I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever. I got a bar of Lever 2000 that just delivers every time. Nothing else."
The couple also mentioned that they don’t bathe their two kids every single day, and that detail sparked a big reaction online, with people debating everything from parenting to hygiene habits.
The topic got so big that celebrities like Dwayne Johnson and Cardi B even jumped in with their own opinions, turning it into a full-on internet argument that just kept going.
Now, about four and a half years later, Kutcher has admitted that the original comments took on a life of their own and got blown way out of proportion.
In a joint interview with People alongside Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope on Monday (January 19), the 47-year-old said: "It was the craziest thing of all time. We made a comment at one point, and people were like, 'Does he stink? Does he smell?'"
After that, the actor reportedly turned to his Beauty co-stars and tried to clear up what was actually meant, since the story had turned into something totally different online.
He said: "There was a comment on a podcast, so long ago … and people are like, 'They don't shower.' I'm like, 'I shower, I go to the gym, I shower.'"
Ramos also backed him up and made it clear that Kutcher definitely showers, which feels like something that shouldn’t even need to be confirmed, but here we are.
Kunis has also talked before about how things work in their house, especially when it comes to privacy, and she said their family is very relaxed about things like bathroom routines.
In an earlier interview with E! News, she explained that the “doors are always open” at home, including the bathroom door, and she said that helped everyone treat basic bodily functions like something normal instead of something awkward.
Kunis added: "We have no closed doors in our house and that includes the bathroom."
"It's just one of those where, for better or for worse, as a family and the kids have all kind of embodied bodily function as a very standard norm."
She continued: "I'd never thought that I would be the person that was able to go to the bathroom with the door open."
Kunis also said that even if someone did shut the bathroom door, it never really changed anything, because her family would still knock constantly and interrupt her “every two seconds” anyway.
So between the open-door setup and the nonstop knocking, it sounds like privacy isn’t really a thing in their house, and the shower rumor just became one more strange story people refused to let go.
