When we go to the cash machine, we typically expect some kind of privacy when withdrawing cash or checking our balance.

Perhaps those who have not made the switch to online banking still view it as a crucial component of managing their finances.

Well, this particular ATM in the US has generated controversy since it differs somewhat from the standard cash machine you might find on the main street.

Once you put your debit or credit card, this ATM at Art Basel in Miami snaps a photo of you and displays it on a screen above the machine.

However, this display is essentially a leaderboard that lists every user of the machine in the area.

It displays the balance of each person's bank account and arranges people according to how much money they have there.

In a video that content producer Joel Franco (@OfficialJoelF) shared on Twitter, he demonstrates some of the leaderboard competitors and how healthy or not their bank accounts appear.

The guy with the largest bank account when he was at Art Basel had a staggering $2.9 million (£2.3 million), with others in the middle earning between $10k and $20k.

Joel even claimed that a small number of players on the opposing side of the leaderboard had no money in their bank accounts.

The author of the article emphasizes how well-liked the ATM is, which seems strange to say about a cash station but there we are.

The number of people gathered around the machine in Joel's video emphasizes this.

You can witness people who are really scared to use the cash machine, with many of them standing back and staring at it, in a post on Twitter and in full on his YouTube channel.

But one brave individual decided to walk up to the ATM and enter his information.

Joel captures the man filling out his information and his response as he watches the leaderboard in expectation of his position.

The ATM is truly unlike anything we've ever seen because, as he waits for the outcome, it makes toilet-flushing noises.

The outcome is subsequently made known, and everyone learns that he has $40,000 in his bank account.

When you were young and asked your parents how much money they made, you were told it was rude.

You know where to go if you're a kid who wants to know how much money your parents have.
