#1 While nearly 91% of LBGT kids are "out" to their close friends, only 2/3rds of those kids are out to their families.
#2 They're afraid of being rejected by those they love most, as up to 57% of these children experience verbal harassment and slurs just by coming out.

#3 However, there is a bright side!
#4 The kids who come out to their family also report feeling happier and are more likely to accomplish their life goals.

#5 This is likely because they are twice as likely to have an adult they can go to just to talk about what's making them sad.

#6 Those kids who are out are also more likely to have social activities and support groups in their lives to help them out through the hard times.

#7 The kids who aren't "out" just don't have the same support.

#8 This support is super important as nearly 80% of LBGT kids actually come out during some of the hardest years of life.... highschool.

#9 So coming out to an accepting and loving family is key to these kids growing up and being productive and happy members of society.
