Young was born and raised in Waihi Beach, New Zealand. The beautiful natural landscapes surrounding his beach-side residence were what helped develop his artwork.

Young said many of his pieces are inspired directly from the remote Mount Maunganui and Mayor Island.

Usually it's the water that overtakes the land but sometimes the land overtakes the ocean too, which is why one could find this particular piece of art meaningful.

Here, Young has brilliantly displayed the ocean water splashing up against the lighthouse. The amount of hard-work and dedication put into making this particular piece can clearly be seen by the rough waters at the surface and the stunning textures underwater.
