Beyoncé's mum has criticized "sad little haters" who suggested the star lightened her skin for the premiere of her Renaissance film. The singer went for a platinum blonde hair look and wore a silver dress at the red carpet event on Saturday.
Beyonce Sends Defiant Message To Critics Accusing Her Of 'Skin-Lightening'
Beyoncé has responded defiantly to online accusations of 'skin-lightening' following her dramatic makeover, which she unveiled to her millions of fans.
Despite being a beloved figure globally, the 42-year-old singer faced criticism and trolling on social media for her new look, featuring a striking platinum blonde wig at the Renaissance concert film premiere on Saturday (24 November).
In the face of online trolls and negative comments, Beyoncé took to Instagram to address the controversy.
Some of the remarks had gone so far as to accuse her of imitating Kim Kardashian, adding to the slew of cruel comments directed at the singer over the past week.
Facing the backlash head-on, Beyoncé used her Instagram platform to send a strong and defiant message to her critics.
The singer made it clear that she would not let the online hate and accusations deter her, standing up for herself and addressing the controversy surrounding her recent appearance.
Beyoncé chose not to engage directly with online trolls. Instead, she shared a photo on Instagram with Jay-Z, both throwing up peace signs, sending a message of positivity to their critics.
And it's safe to say that Beyonce fans loved the defiant message, with one penning: "We know Black is Black.. congrats on the movie!!!"
While another added: "BEYONCÉ WE LOVE THE PLATINUM ON YOU. YOU PULL OFF ANYTHING. FORGET THE MEDIA , YOU ARE THE QUEEN."
Beyoncé donned a dazzling silver gown designed by Donatella Versace at the premiere of her concert movie.
However, amidst the cruel comments directed at the singer, her mother, Tina Knowles, took a stand against the critics.
In response to remarks about Beyoncé's skin appearing too 'white,' Tina addressed the issue on her Instagram, posting a lengthy message that called out the critics for their 'ignorance and racism.'
“Came across this today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid ignorant self, hating racist statements about her, lightening her skin, and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white,” Tina began.
The mother added the legendary singer wore a platinum blonde wig to the premiere as the film’s theme is ‘silver’.
“She does a film, called the Renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she's trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin? .. How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy,” she continued.
The mother noted how one white woman had reached out to Beyonce’s hairstylist for a statement regarding Beyonce’s appearance, which Tina admitted ‘boiled her blood’.
“Well that made, my blood boil, that this white woman felt so entitled to discuss her blackness,” she said.
“Every time she does something that she works her a** off for and is a statement of her work ethic , talent and resilience. Here you sad little haters come out the woodwork."
"Jealousy and racism , sexism , double standards , you perpetuate those things . Instead of celebrating a sister or just ignoring if you don't like her."
