After welcoming baby Grace with husband Chandler Powell in March, Bindi Irwin is celebrating her first Mother's Day. The wildlife conservationist decided to pay tribute to those who shaped her into the woman she is today, including her late father, Steve Irwin, on such a significant day. She shared a lovely piece of artwork by Debb Oliver of The Monkey Brush, in which she imagines how Steve would react if he met Bindi's daughter.
Bindi Irwin Shares Amazing Artwork Of Dad Steve Holding Baby Grace On Her First Mother's Day
And it was a beautiful day to mark her first Mother's Day as a mom!
Well, last year, the pair decided to take their commitment to one another a step further.
It was a small and private ceremony.
They got married in a secluded location where Steve used to regularly film and Bindi opened up about how she honored her late dad on her special day.
And for another special touch, she even kept her surname as a legacy to her dad.
But in the last few months of her pregnancy, she decided to start revealing her growing body to her fans.
But nevertheless, Bindi and Chandler have been loving their new lives as parents.
And to mark her first Mother's Day over the weekend, Bindi shared the most stunning artwork showing Steve holding baby grace.
"This day embodies the extraordinary gift of family," Bindi wrote, sharing the art she commissioned from Debb. "I wish we could all be together but sometimes life has other plans. â¤ï¸ To my beautiful daughter, always know that you are loved beyond description."
Bindi recently discussed how difficult it is to start a family without her father. "It's hard knowing she'll never get to meet him, and it's heartbreaking because I'll never get to watch the bond," she said on Animal Planet's Crikey! "But I can't wait to tell beautiful Grace all of these stories about dad, to be able to share with her what an incredible father he was," she said. In April, it's all about the baby.”
Despite the suffering, Bindi believes her father is "never really gone," and she seeks creative ways to involve him in Grace's life, such as in the artwork below. "It's hard that he's not here because out of everyone in the world, he would've loved her the most. He would've loved her so much," she said. "But I think in a way he is still with us and his heart and soul live on in all of us."
