#1 Peplums

Peplums are that extra piece of fabric on a shirt, dress, or skirt that cinches in at the waist and ruffles out. They came into modern fashion a few years ago, and women love how they emphasize the smallest part of their waists and then flow over the problem areas on the belly. The style accentuates your waist to hip ratio, which worldwide, is one of the most important parts of a woman’s physical beauty.

Although men covet women with waists that are noticeably thinner than their hips, peplums aren’t the way to garner positive attention from your menfolk. Some men think the ruffled peplum looks silly and childish, while others think the way it flows over your lower stomach makes it look like an article of maternity clothing. So, keep wearing your peplums, ladies, but do it for yourself and your girlfriends, not to impress your guy.

#2 Super High Heels

Super high heels not only make a girl taller than a guy, which they tend to dislike, guys also don’t want to hear a girl complain about her feet hurting or having to carry her home. Moreover, when a girl cannot walk in those stilettos, she sounds like a trotting horse and looks like a retard.

#3 Oversized Sweaters

Do guys have a thing about not liking us to look comfortable? Because this is the second item of clothing we wear more for comfort than for style that they seem to hate, and trust us when we say it won’t be the last. When we wear an oversized sweater, we think we look relaxed and cute, but not like we’re trying too hard. Slip one on over a pair of skinnies and some cute boots and you have a look that seems like we put a lot of effort into it but we definitely did not.

On the other hand, dudes just aren’t feeling our oversized sweaters. They think they cover up our shape rather than accentuate it, and feel like it’s a look better stuck in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Obviously, there’s a line between good oversized sweaters and sweaters that look like you raided your dad’s closet, but we think both look cute, so whatever!

#4 Oversized Glasses

Speaking of props from a Gulliver’s Travel stageplay, glasses just keep getting bigger and bigger. Now we've got giant sunglasses, giant prescription glasses, and, of course, big old frames stuffed with big old nonprescription lenses.

But whether you really need those glasses or not, we don't understand why the frames have to extend from hairline to chin. It must be hard to get through narrow doorways wearing those things. It must take a week to clean off the smudges.

At least if your car windshield gets a crack, you've got replacement glass close at hand. As for giant sunglasses, we guess those huge lenses makes it easy to share the UV protection. If the day gets really sunny, you could harbor a small crowd in the shade of your shades.

We're just guessing, here. If you have any clues about why giant glasses are fashionable for women, please help us out.

#5 Rompers

A romper is a perfect day outfit for women like Audrina Patridge, who wore this floral button-down one for an afternoon of window shopping. The romper is comfy like a sundress, but the shorts cause less worry for windy days or sitting in the grass. Plus, you don’t have to worry about what top should go with what bottoms – because it’s all one piece!

Men aren’t as into the trend as celebrities like Patridge are, however. The cross between overalls and a dress is just too strange for a lot of dudes to wrap their heads around. And, to many, the outfit looks like a onesie that’s meant for a baby.

#6 OverAlls

Another clothing item on this list that remind guys of the good ol’ days when they didn’t pay bills and the most stressful thing was getting to the good swing at the playground: overalls. Wearing a high-fashion version of this farmer apparel staple just doesn’t do it for a guy, who can’t see past Osh Kosh.

Overalls are a love ‘em or hate ‘em trend, with women divided between thinking they’re cute and an easy, summery trend to wear, and those who are kind of on the male side, and think that they’re just not flattering and make them feel like a little kid (or like Old MacDonald). That being said, with a fitted or cropped top, a relaxed pair of flats or sneakers, and you’ve got a look that doesn’t try to dress up a naturally casual item, and still looks chill – perfect when you’re looking to beat the summer heat. Also: pockets!

#7 Harem pants

Harem pants are popular among women because they’re trendy and extremely comfortable. The pants are baggy around the seat, and thighs and become tighter from the knee down, giving the wearer a unique silhouette. A classic black pair like the ones above are perfect for a comfy day at the office, and more colorful or patterned pants can be worn for a relaxing day out.

Men don’t find the pants’ unconventional shape flattering, however. At best, guys bemoan the way these pants do nothing for a lady’s rear end, and at worst, they compare this look to a full diaper. Don’t send these pants to the thrift store just because of the male mindset, but you might want to skip over them when choosing an outfit for a first date!

#8 Fake Nails

Acrylic nails basically scream ghetto-bitches-nails. While guys may love that long natural nails great for back-scratching, they make some feel like they are dating Cruella. Big fake press-on reminds men of claws, and men don’t want to get clawed, ever.

#9 Heavy Eye Makeup

Oh, man, we could go on for ages about why guys don’t like heavy eye makeup or too much makeup in general, but then we’d have to inform men everywhere that most of them don’t even know how many products go into a “no makeup” makeup look, and why their opinion about being sold “false advertising” is irrelevant and insulting.

But we don’t have time for that, so with all of that being said, it shouldn’t be a surprise that guys don’t dig heavy eye makeup. They think it means we’re hiding something or covering something up, but it also probably gives them flashbacks of the early ‘00s when Avril Lavigne’s raccoon eyeliner was everywhere, and no one wants to be reminded of the awkward parts of their adolescence. While we love being able to show off the skills we’ve learned from countless YouTube videos, guys would rather we toned it down in the dark eye makeup department because they’re just not feeling it.

#10 Pixie Cuts

This is a trend that comes in and out of fashion, but it still always around, especially among celebrities. Most recently, we’ve seen Katy Perry cut her hair and dye it blonde, only to have tons of haters come at her, saying they preferred her long, raven locks instead.

When a woman cuts her hair, even if she can totally kill it, owing to fabulous bone structure, it’s rarely a guy’s favourite look. At the most basic level, guys think that pixie cuts (despite their name) are too masculine. Femininity is associated with long, luxurious hair. It’s considered fertile and beautiful, and all a dude wants to do is run his fingers through it. With short hair, they could be with one of their boys, and that’s not exactly a turn on for them. While a lot of guys may not be into short hair on women, they still won’t be able to deny that Katy, Miley Cyrus, and Scarlett Johansson look gorgeous with their cropped ‘dos!

#11 High-waisted Jeans

Men generally see high-waisted clothes as old fashioned. With the high-waisted shorts, men think they look trashy when’s it is too short, especially if one is out of shape! For the high waisted jeans, men feel like they are looking at a younger’s version of their mom or grandma. And for the high waisted skirts, most men hate them because they look like they are from the 50’s and add extra volume.

#12 Dark Lipstick

While men may stare longer at bright lipstick because it is distracting, they apparently do not like it because it is not make-out friendly. Bright lipstick gets on everything, and no guy wants a red colour on their lips or teeth!

#13 Beanies

“I hate how girls wear those knit hats on the top of their heads... it’s clearly not even for warmth... and it looks dumb... always very neon-colored.”

#14 Floppy hats

“There’s this look I would call ‘the bourgeoise bohemian” that involves those floppy felt hats. This look is played out.”

#15 Bandeaus

Bandeaus, either in bikini form, shirt form, or worn in lieu of a bra, just don’t do it for a lot of guys. We bet you probably already know why, but we’ll tell you anyway: they flatten the girls! Bandeaus are primarily reserved for ladies lucky enough to rock them with a smaller chest, because any girl who’s a bit bustier is out of luck with the lack of support a bandeau offers. Owing to the shapelessness of the bandeau, guys hate them for the slobbering caveman reason biology gives them: it turns one of their favourite body parts into something flat and kind of droopy.

Bandeaus are usually just a strip of stretchy fabric, and because of its composition, it doesn’t do anything to lift and separate the chest, which kind of eliminates the appeal of going strapless. Of course, we know that they can be extremely comfortable (if they fit well, that is), and since our body isn’t for their eyes only, we’ll rock it as long as we like!

#16 Hair Bows

“Giant bows in their hair, after roughly the age of elementary school.”

“It’s clothing that is too young for them.”

#17 Humongous Hand Bags

Fashionistas tell us that the microbag is on its way in for 2017. Tell that to the modern metropolitan woman. Everyone still seems stuck on purses that could double as suitcases. Or body bags.

Maybe it's a survival thing. If you get stuck in a blizzard, you want a handbag you can crawl inside for shelter. Or maybe it's more about carrying lots of stuff. No need to ask what's in there. Just assume it's in there.

We get the practical necessity of carrying around lots of stuff, but we'll never understand why you don't just wear a backpack, the original man-purse.

Because it must be inconvenient to have to buy an extra ticket for your bag every time you go to the movies. It must be awkward to have to check your purse at the airport. And forget finding your lipstick in there; you'd have to go in with a flashlight and a trail of breadcrumbs.

#18 Wedges

Every woman knows that wedges are the comfiest form of heels. They pair well with jeans, shorts and sundresses, and give you that extra height and bounce in your step without having to worry about getting your stiletto stuck in the grass.

Although women always compliment each other’s adorable wedges, men just don’t think they’re that cute. Like Uggs, guys think wedges make your feet look big and clunky. “It looks like she strapped blocks of wood to her feet”, is actually the general sentiment from the male population. So ladies, stick to pumps or flats if your trying to impress a guy with your footwear.
