A weird cloud formation in the sky that looks like a UFO was spotted in Turkey, leaving onlookers and the internet in shock. While some think it's the UFO from the movie 'Nope', others are thinking of calling their ex-girlfriends because of its bizarre shape.
Bizarre UFO-like Cloud Formation Stuns Onlookers
A UFO? Or a giant vagina? Internet is confused over an unusual cloud formation that floated over Bursa, Turkey, on Thursday morning. What might appear as the UFO from Jordan Peele's film Nope is actually an unusual cloud known as Lenticular cloud.
They are usually found either draped over or floating near mountain tops and ridges. They're formed when that layer of the atmosphere is just on the cusp of saturation. As air flows over mountain tops, the gentle lift provides just enough cooling for the air to reach saturation and form a cloud. As the air sinks again, it becomes warmer and drier, leaving saturation and becoming invisible again.
It may appear the cloud is static, but air is constantly flowing through it. They can result in strong winds on the ground in one place and pilots tend to avoid flying near lenticular clouds because of the turbulence that usually comes with their appearance.
Deborah Byrd of earth sky.org said: "These lens-shaped clouds typically form where stable moist air flows over a mountain or a range of mountains.
"When this happens, a series of large-scale standing waves may form on the mountain’s downwind side. If the temperature at the crest of the wave drops to the dew point, moisture in the air may condense to form lenticular clouds."
The footage was captured by Hafize Aktas in the city of Bursa in Turkey on Thursday (19 January). The cloud has an almost circular shape and appeared at sunrise, giving it an eerie reddish-orange appearance. It remained intact for about an hour and had a large hole in the middle.
Many Twitter users responded to clips of the cloud, saying the natural phenomena bore a startling resemblance to female genitalia.
“A giant vagina!” one pervy Twitter user proclaimed.
“Oh man, I hate my dirty mind. I should quit watching porn,” a second sleazy social media user quipped.
The online excitement even caught the attention of “The Crown” actress Gillian Anderson, who also implied that the cloud looked like a human vagina.
“Now if this isn’t a sign I don’t know what is (That God is a woman),” the “First Lady” star, 54, stated in a tweet shared with her 965,000 followers.
Others responded to the actress saying the cloud looked more like a UFO. Several subsequently cracked jokes about Anderson’s most famous role in the sci-fi series “The X-Files,” in which she played an FBI agent investigating extraterrestrial activity.
“Sure does feel like [a] missing episode of ‘The X-Files,” one fan humorously wrote.
A second chimed in:: “[It’s] a UFO calling for another season!”
Lenticular clouds are believed to be the most common explanation for UFO sightings across the world.
