A black woman from Boston, Massachusetts, shared a photo of a letter she got from a neighbour. The neighbour protested in the letter about noises coming from Ari's flat, including "n-word" songs, sexual sounds, and the use of a blender at 10 in the morning. Many people on social media commented in her favour and labelled it as racism.
Black Boston Woman Receives Racist Letter From Neighbor Complaining About Her Using Blender At 10 am
An African-American woman got a disrespectful letter laced with racist remarks from the residents of her apartment complex in Boston who, among other issues, complained about her loud rap music.
Twitter user Ari, who goes by @earthyari, took a picture of the letter she appears to have got from her neighbours, who wrote that after she moved into the building as a resident, she has "caused nothing but pain".
"Dear Resident. You seem to have no respect for others huh? You seem to think you can move into a new building without abiding by the rules of morality or have any concern for anyone else but yourself," the letter, typed and printed on A4-sized paper, read.
Neighbours, who have not named themselves in the letter, then complain about Ari's use of a mixer in the mornings and her rap music.
"Who uses a blender at 10 AM? " the letter continues. "Do you care about other individuals and that rap music you play? You're playing rap music so early in the morning? Please put away the n*gger music."
The neighbours asked Ari to "listen to something more peaceful and calming" and asked her to "learn to have respect" before requesting to tone down the "loud sex."
In a follow-up tweet, Ari noted: "In my defence, my music isn't that loud I've walked out my apt while it was playing to test it & making a smoothie at 10 am isn't that bad. I won't comment on the last thing."
