Blake Lively Revealed The Rule She And Ryan Reynolds Agreed To When They Started Dating

Being in the limelight, celebrity relationships are often the subject of intense public interest. 

There's always chatter about who's dating who, the reasons behind breakups, and how ex-partners react to new relationships, among other things.

However, it's always heartwarming to see celebrity couples who share a deep, loving connection. 

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one such duo, having tied the knot in 2012. Since then, they've welcomed four children and their bond seems to be as strong as ever.

Their paths first crossed in 2010 on the set of "The Green Lantern," although at the time, both were involved with other people—Reynolds with Scarlett Johansson and Lively with Penn Badgley.

After both their previous relationships ended, Lively and Reynolds reconnected in 2011 and began their romantic journey.

For many couples, relationship rules might include never going to bed angry or always saying "I love you" after a disagreement. 

However, Lively and Reynolds, both being actors, realized early on they needed to establish a rule that acknowledged their unique lifestyle for their relationship to flourish.

In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Lively revealed: "When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time. So that we could always prioritize our personal life."

Lively dived deeper into the significance of this rule during an appearance on Amber Tamblyn's Substack series, Further Ado. 

She explained how this agreement has been crucial in maintaining the balance in their relationship.

After having children, adhering to this rule presented challenges, yet the couple remained committed. 

Lively shared, "That takes working really hard when we're not. Just like financial planning and sustaining that—it takes balance.

I'm used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping.

Especially, 'Gossip Girl' was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once."

In a 2020 interview with Access Hollywood, Reynolds expressed his appreciation for their arrangement, emphasizing the quality time it allows them to spend together.

"We don't split up," Reynolds stated. "Like, I shoot movies and my wife shoots movies, and we go travel all over the place, and we just all go together.

I think that's been the best part of it is that we really don't spend a lot of time apart. I get to spend a lot of time with my girls."

Through this shared commitment to never work simultaneously, Lively and Reynolds have found a way to nurture their relationship while simultaneously pursuing their demanding careers, showcasing the importance of setting boundaries that prioritize family and personal life.
