This restaurant takes customer service seriously and went above and beyond when this blind woman and her friend showed up to celebrate her birthday. When it came time to cut the cake, the staff showed up with a plate that said 'Happy Birthday' written in Braille using chocolate as ink.
A London restaurant has gone viral for their touching display of sincerity and consideration after writing down a birthday wish onto a plate using chocolate. The chocolate message read ‘Happy Birthday’ in braille and the recipient of the wish, Natalie, was overjoyed by the gesture.
The video starts with Natalie sitting at a table at Luciano by Gino D’Acampo, waiting for her cake when a waiter, along with a few of the staff slides a plate in front of her.
One of them asks her for her hand and helps her trace the words on her plate.
The moment she realizes what the plate says, she’s pleasantly surprised and smiles even wider.
“No freaking way. You did not!”
“You guys are amazing,” says the lady recording the situation.
Natalie is overjoyed by the sentiment. “Oh my god, are you kidding me! That’s insane.”
She is then served another platter of dessert so she can enjoy her birthday further.
The video was posted to Natalie’s TikTok with the caption, “So take heart, despite how broken the world is right now…true kindness still exists,”
People of course were touched and overjoyed along with Natalie and loved how the restaurant went above and beyond with their service.
The video was later reshared to Reddit where people had a similar positive response.
"This is the sweetest! What a considerate staff! I'm also wondering, how much planning time did they have to do this? Did someone in the kitchen just happen to know how to write in Braille?"
One user said that they had probably searched on Google for the letters.
This user was also touched by the infectious joy.
"Awww seeing how elated she was made me happy too. Sometimes it’s the small happinesses that count the most."
This commenter pointed out that making sure they know Braille would be important and in this case led to a beautiful moment.
"FYI for anyone who wants to imitate this: make sure the blind person actually knows braille first (in a restaurant offer them a braille menu, if they decline odds are they don't read braille. Most blind people dont' actually know braille.
But most can still hear, so singing happy birthday to them like you do for everyone else is just fine!
Edit: Obviously she does, and it's adorable what they did, just don't want any folks inspired by this to end up in awkward situations by not checking first!"
