Boaty McBoatface Inspires The Internet To Rename Animals

#1 Shackleton, Endeavour, Falcon And ... Boaty McBoatface?

Britain's Natural Environment Research Council asked the public to help think of possible names for the new world-class $300 million polar exploration ship, urging them to look for "an inspirational name" that exemplifies the vessel's mission, a historical figure, movement, landmark or a famous polar explorer or scientist.

The internet, doing what it naturally does, hijacked the process and went full-steam ahead with 'Boaty McBoatface.' In fact, the name has over 28,000 votes so far, sailing way ahead of it's nearest competition, Ice Ice Baby, Usain Boat and It's Bloody Cold Here.

But the internet didn't stop with the naming of the new ship. In all it's glory, someone came up with the hashtag #TheInternetNamesAnimals and Twitter and Instagram followers began it's stab at renaming animals in the spirit of McBoatface.
