There is no denying that we live in a world full of misogynistic people who are sitting in positions of power and are insensitive to womens' problems. These ignorant men usually demand that the female workforce put an equal amount of time in their office work not realizing that 90% of the times women are the ones who are responsible for households duties too which makes it impossible for them to contribute an equal amount of time as their male counterparts.
Boss Rants About Female Workers Not Being Able To Work 24/7 Like Male Coworkers
We live in the 21st century, yet the debate about women contributing to household and office work is still going on and the misogynistic views about women shared by sexist men continue to be mindboggling for us.
The fact is that the workforce is not usually sensitive about women and the responsibility they carry especially when it comes to house works and they expect women to contribute equal time at work as their male counterparts.
This view has only worsened in the past two years as the pandemic crisis forced the world to close down and shift to work from home scenario.
Karan Tripathi, a lawyer by profession recently tweeted sister dealing with an ignorant boss — and started a conversation about women at work in male-centric careers.
“My sister, who’s the only female data scientist in her company, was told by her boss today that she should learn from her male colleagues who work relentlessly over the weekend and never switch off their work stations,” Tripathi wrote.
“There was no review of HER performance, simply a call to ‘pull up her sleeves’ because her male colleagues are available 24×7. That boss had no awareness about the difference in domestic duties of male and female professionals.”
“The WFH culture has invisibilized the gendered struggles of navigating personal and professional life. Offices are becoming ignorant towards the disproportionate burden of WFH on women, who manage work alongside expectations of being the primary performer of domestic duties.”
