A teen who was out lobstering was attacked by a shark and had ten stitches on his face. After the nurse shark bit Fischer Hricko, 13,'s upper lip, he was taken to the hospital with "blood gushing out of his face."

Hricko reported feeling a nudge on his leg while using a net to grab a lobster in the water. The child claimed that the shark was "right there" when he turned around.

The creature then grabbed hold of his mouth and he attempted to get it away from his face by grabbing it. Since January, more than 39 shark attacks have been reported across the globe.

Fischer told Florida's News 6: “It was scary, like, I tried getting away, but it was so fast. Then I just swam as fast as I could back to the boat, screaming."

Nurse sharks are typically thought to be calm.

His father, Kent Hricko, told the station that he tried to swim to Fischer as quickly as he could.

He said: "When I’m approaching him, I’m just seeing blood gushing out of his face, and at that point, I’m like, ‘What happened?'

"He was shocked, a little bit of crying - but not much, he was being tough."

Fischer was returned to the boat and taken to the hospital by the family.

Fischer rested the next day after getting the stitches before returning to the water. "You (have to) always stay positive," he told News 6.

Fischer told the site that this time, though, he used a hook to catch a shark that was at least four feet long rather than a lobster.

Kent added: “Fischer’s going to have a cool story to tell when he goes back to school."
