Britney Spears has revealed her future career plans after stating she'll 'never return to the music industry'.
Britney Spears has recently opened up about her future in the music industry, making it clear that she has no intention of making a comeback.
Despite releasing new music in 2022 after a six-year hiatus, fans eager for more from the pop icon might be disappointed.
It doesn't look like the Britney Army are going to be hearing a peep out of Spears anytime soon - if not ever - with the star taking to social media to explain why she currently has no plans to make any new tunes.
Her collaboration with Elton John on the remix of 'Tiny Dancer,' titled 'Hold Me Closer,' had sparked excitement, with Spears expressing her thrill on social media:
"Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years !!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time … @eltonofficial !!!!"
"I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!"
"I’m learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today."
However, in a recent Instagram post, Spears set the record straight and clarified 'most of the news is trash', shutting down the rumors about a new album and stating her disinterest in returning to the industry.
Accompanying a painting by Guido Reni, her caption read:
"They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!!"
"When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me …"
"I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!!"
"People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ???"
"I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!"
The news has left her fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) with mixed emotions.
While some are supportive of her decision, others express sadness and hope for her return.
One user said, "Ik it sad she was so damn good."
Another added, "Cue the sad hannah montana transition music,"
A third empathized, "Heartbreaking but understandable."
And yet, another fan remains optimistic: "Highly doubt that's true, she has so much left to offer."
