Bryce Dallas Howard revealed that she was paid significantly less than Chris Pratt for their roles in the Jurassic World trilogy.

In 2015, Bryce starred as Claire Dearing in the first film of the trilogy, which breathed new life into the nearly extinct Jurassic Park franchise.

She starred alongside Chris Pratt, who played the lead role of Owen Grady.

While the two went on to co-lead the next two films, it turns out that Chris was paid a lot more than Bryce.

When the second film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018, reports surfaced that Bryce was paid $8 million, while Chris earned $10 million.

However, Bryce later told Business Insider that these reports didn’t tell the whole story.

“The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less,” she revealed.

This pay disparity included the 2022 instalment Jurassic World Dominion, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film of that year.

Despite the movie’s massive success, Bryce was still paid less than Chris because she had signed a three-movie deal back in 2014.

She explained, “When I started negotiating for Jurassic, it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage.

“And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set.”

Bryce did discuss the pay gap with Chris, and he stepped up to help.

He advocated for her to receive equal pay on earning opportunities that weren’t tied down by her contract.

Bryce added, “What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn't been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: 'You guys don't even have to do anything.

“I'm gonna do all the negotiating. We're gonna be paid the same, and you don't have to think about this, Bryce.'"

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I've been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.”

Sadly, Bryce’s experience isn’t an isolated case of pay inequality in Hollywood.

Kirsten Dunst also revealed that she was paid significantly less than Tobey Maguire for their 2004 film Spider-Man 2.

Maguire reportedly earned around $17 million (or possibly more, according to Dunst) to reprise his role as Peter Parker, while she received a $7 million paycheck.
