Kevin Ford, a dedicated Burger King cook for 27 years who never missed a day of work, finally achieved his dream of owning a house thanks to the generosity of people touched by his story.

Initially, his long-term commitment of 27 years was acknowledged with a measly gift bag containing a backpack, movie tickets, a Starbucks cup, and candies.

However, when a video showcasing his modest recognition went viral, it sparked a wave of support.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help Kevin, and it astonishingly gathered over $400,000.

With this incredible support, on December 13, Kevin bought his first home in Pahrump, Nevada.

The house, which cost $177,000, is an 846-square-foot property featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Expressing his gratitude on social media, Kevin shared his excitement about the home he could now call his own.

He said: “I wanted to show you something, something you made possible, you did for me, just a hardworking guy.”

The GoFundMe campaign, initially set up by Seryna Ford in June 2022, didn't aim to solicit funds but hoped to possibly help Kevin visit his grandchildren.

“In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money.”

“But if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.”

Surpassing all expectations, it raised around $439,000.

After GoFundMe's fees, the family retained about $350,000, acknowledging that the platform took a 'sizeable chunk' of the donations.
