When the announcement from IHOP came saying that they were changing their name to IHOB, people were confused. They have been IHOP since 1958, so changing their name now did not make any sense. It is something along the lines of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." IHOP kept people on their feet wondering what the "B" in IHOB would stand for. Since they are a breakfast place, famous for their pancakes, most people assumed they were changing their name to International House of Breakfast. That is the only thing that makes sense, but they fooled us all when they announced that they will be now known as International House of Burgers. What? People were thrown back and not really happy with the new name. The internet has blown up with other burger joints and people alike trolling the brand for their ridiculous name change.
Businesses Trolling IHOP for changing to IHOb Is The Best Thing On The Internet Right Now
IHOP to IHOB
IHOP has decided to change their name from International House of Pancakes to International House of Burgers. They have been a pancake place since 1958, so this sudden change has caused the internet to go into a frenzy. But, the best part of the whole change is the way other businesses have publicly reacted to this change.
Waffle House
Most breakfast places like IHOP and Waffle House are known for their breakfast menu, but we also knew that they also sold things like burgers. But, since they are famous for their breakfast menus, they should stick to their roots.
Wendy's
If you have spent any time on the internet, you should know that whoever runs Wendy's social media accounts is a complete savage who holds nothing back. So, when news of IHOP changing their name came around, they definitely had to put their two cents in on the topic.
Chili's
Just like many restaurants, there are a variety of items on their menus. Chili's has some great waffles, but that does not make them want to change their name. If it is not broke, you should not try to fix it.
Red Robin
Even Red Robin got in on the fun with teasing IHOP about their mistake. In IHOP's defense, they sure know how to market their brand without spending a ton of money. They are getting plenty of free advertisement, especially from their competitors.
White Castle
Some brands, like White Castle, decided to get a few jabs in too by saying they were also going to change their name to something absolutely ridiculous that has nothing to do with their brand. Although, we do think that a spot called Pancake Castle might be pretty nice.
Netflix
Just like White Castle, Netflix also jokes about changing their name. While it was a bit amusing, Netflix's comment just did not hit the spot for it. It kind of fell flat.
Wendy's Again
We told you that Wendy's is probably the most savage social media account on the internet. They hold nothing back and bring us tons of burns that keep us laughing all day long.
Burger King
We all know that Burger King also sells pancakes, but that does not mean they should change their name, even if it just temporary which is what we heard that IHOP's change to IHOB will be. Pancake King just sounds ridiculous. What do you think?
Whataburger
Who does not love pancakes? Just because you serve them, it does not mean they need to be in the name, especially if you are already famous for other parts of your menu. We do not know how long IHOP plans to be IHOB, but we hope that it will not last long. IHOB just does not sound as appealing as IHOP sounds.
