The fighter had already taken a loss that day, but sadly things were only about to get worse for him.
An MMA fighter experienced a day that started off poorly and quickly descended into something far worse after he lost a match.
The awkward incident took place at the recent Clash of the Stars event held in the Czech Republic, witnessed by around 20,000 spectators.
Lukas Bukovaz, the cage fighter in question, had just faced a defeat.
Losing is never easy, but it's a common aspect of any sport—you win some, you lose some.
However, in an attempt to salvage something positive from the day, Bukovaz invited his girlfriend into the ring.
He then knelt on one knee and proposed to his partner right there in front of the entire audience.
Despite the crowd's enthusiastic cheers, her response clearly showed that all was not well.
As the audience continued to cheer, the woman covered her face with her hand, displaying evident discomfort in this highly unusual and public situation.
After Bukovaz finished his marriage proposal, he received another harsh setback.
Not only did she decline his proposal, but she also publicly accused him of cheating, all in front of a live audience.
She stated, "Based on everything that's happened, I think probably not," and added, "I don't think so."
Bukovaz appeared deeply disappointed as he remained kneeling on the ground, which is putting it mildly.
The cheers from the audience soon turned into boos once it became clear that she had rejected his proposal.
Additionally, Bukovaz had not only lost the match earlier, but it was also a two versus one fight, where he was part of the duo expected to win.
It's safe to say that the loss came as a surprising blow.
People flooded the comments on social media to express their painful second-hand embarrassment for everyone involved.
One person used the incident as a reminder to count one's blessings, commenting:
"Remember, things can always be worse.. you can LOSE a 2 v 1 fight (where you were part of the 2) and immediately have your proposal rejected right after.... oof."
Another chimed in, saying: "Bruh, you just lost a fight, and public proposals are awful, you get the Double L."
Another commenter highlighted the undue pressure of public proposals, noting:
"She's not obligated to say yes, his fault for doing something so personal in public."
But looking on the bright side, things can only improve from here.
